Vic. Bit extender question
on: December 31, 2018, 08:49:10 PM
Hi guys,

I've received my Vic. bit extender today to add to my Spirit X and bit kit.

To my surprise it's not held in place when put into the Vic. Bit L-Wrench...

A closer look reveals that its diameter is a tad smallish...

Is that normal?   :dunno:

That doesn't look normal.

It should lock and not fall out. Tested it with my bit extender which locks.

Is the retention ring within the L Wrench missing or loose?

But it holds bits securely?

Thanks guys!

The L-Wrench does hold bits securely.
The retention ring is in place.

I guess the hexagon shaped end of the Extender is too slim as the comparison with a normal bit shows?   :dunno:

This is weird. I'm hesitating to buy another one  :-\

Just put the Vic. Bit-Extender into my Leatherman Bit-Extender and it's basically the same.
The Leatherman Bit-Extender does hold it a tiny bit. Just enough to defy gravity.

I guess I have a faulty Vic. Bit-Extender
I don't think it's worth to sent in  :-\

I think you should, if only so that an example of faulty Victorinox workmanship gets recorded.  ;)

Vic. Bit extender question
Reply #12 on: January 01, 2019, 09:50:00 AM
As promised... I just checked all of my L wrenches and extenders... none of them comes off easily... although it’s not a snug fit...

Apart from the 2nd and 3rd item from the left, all are Vic products...

I don’t use one of the L-wrenches and Vic ratchet... they’re more like for collection... I prefer the Topeak ratchet over Vics as it has a direction lever and the other end has a magnet insert... Maybe if the L-wrenches had magnets at both ends, then bits and extenders won’t come of that easily...

Thanks a million Jaya

Your bit extender seems to show deeper groves for the retention springs, and the edges are more defined.
Mine looks like being rounded/polished off too much.
That could support my theorie about the diameter being too small.

I'm not sure how that could happen at Vic. factory.

Nice assortment btw.  :like:

...I might be too lazy to sent it in.
Maybe I find something else to sent it with
