Kottsie, those look great. I love your side-by-side burgers there! Well done.....actually a nice 'medium'...which is perfect in my book!

I've mixed some bacon into the meat once or twice. That's a great idea: adds a bit of smoky flavor and helps keep them moist.  :tu:

How did they taste?

Thanks! We did them in two sizes so one can choose

It was the first time I mixed in bacon (courtesy of my brother in law) I usually wrap them but this was really good and the taste was great! I would like to have a bit more chilli but it was good anyway

Right... like a good boy, I've done my prep and made my mix.

Ingredients: Beefy mince, onion, garlic (crushed to buggery with sea salt), thyme, parsley, egg, bit of flour.

In the fridge for a few hours to get friendly.  :2tu:

You are off to a great lookin' start there, Fuzzy!  :ahhh  :like:

Some purists might quip that you are treading awfully close to making meatloaf, but we won't pay them any mind....

Styx, those look fantastic.  :tu:

For a first go at a burger, I'd say you did amazingly well and nailed the attempt. Good job making the divots in the center of the patties: I see that paid off.  I'm quite fond of a turkey burger myself, and I've one planned for later in the challenge.  Well done, sir!  :salute:

But....Serena is right....we're missing the date marker....

Definitely do a follow-up set of burgers. You're awl over this!   :tu:

p.s. you can brush the open faces of the buns with a little melted butter or olive oil: this will help them toast without sticking.  :tu:

Styx: does your camera have an option to include the date/time in the photo?   I really want you to get credit for the attempt!

There is also the issue of "took a bite" pic missing

The timestamp is actually an easier issue to solve. Every picture thends to have a digital signature with the basic information suchs as date taken, some information about the device and in case of cell phones more often than not it has a geographical stamp

The "took a bite" rule is only important to prove that a burger is edible. I'll waive that here, because your burgers are clearly edible! You used Cholula, right? Edible.

that is a similar approach I take

I'm living on the edge Nix... plus, this mix makes a bloody nice meatloaf burger, so the purists can swivel.  :2tu:

Well... apparently Mrs Fuzzy not eating meat at the moment...

Anyway, I've quickly rustled up a falafel burger mix for her using some of Nix's excellent hot sauce... for an extra kick.

I think it's time for...

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls… let's play...

…WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN MONEY MONEY MONEY JAFFA CAKES JAFFA CAKES JAFFA CAKES BURGERS BURGERS BURGERS….

Well... unfortunately I had to go out for a bit so Mrs Fuzzy had her veggie burger while I was out... and didn't take a picture.

Anyway, I got cooking as soon as I got in. A little oil in the pan, fried the bacon to get the fat before putting in the burger and a little falafel patty just to see what they were like. Looks greasy in the pic, but ah... it wasn't - it was all cooking away nicely.

So, Beef and Thyme burger with mature cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickles (must have pickles, can't have a burger without pickles, good pickles at that), streaky bacon, frenchies mustard, tiny bit of mayo on a nice lightly toasted brioche bun... with chunky chips and beer batter onion rings. I'm not always keen on Ketchup on my burger, depends on my mood, so had it on the side with the chips instead. Also, I would normally have skinny fries, but I just fancied something a bit more substantial.

So, verdict - it was smurfing lush!  :2tu:

That is some outstanding work, right there, Fuzzy!  Well done! (No, I see another perfect 'medium'.  :tu:).

Now, the question....if you win, do you keep the prize, or does mum get it?  (It was her recipe....  :pok: )

Now, Nix, let's not be too hasty... it was mam's recipe, but it was me that improved it, made it what it is today... ME!

I guess that's a matter to be decided between you and your conscience.....  You would happen to have mum's e-mail address would you....? You know, just so we can let her know how much we appreciate her inspiration.

Standard burger fixin's, except the vegan mayo (which is fantastic btw), and had a tough time finding vegan friendly burger buns, but not impossible. I would also usually add lettuce, but skipped it this time. All I need are the patties now!  :salute:

Before and after of the portabella, I prefer to grill them, but this works too (covered). I used olive oil and sprinkle a little salt on them. They take longer than ground animals, and shrink more, so I had to choose buns accordingly. My trusty flat grind Endura gets food prep duty anymore, I still keep a Climber in the kitchen drawer, but for other than slicing.  :tu:
