Yep, nowadays they are manufactured in China from "German marine quality stainless" which is akin to 440C.Do not let the Chinese manufacture put you off as they are of very fine quality indeed

After testing these knives, I've discovered that the folding knives are probably the worst sailing knives out there. The blades never hold an edge, the bearings are always loose, and some of them are hard to open because the flipper and marlinspike brush against each other. If you are going to get a myerchins, get the fixed blade offshore systems, way better quality
Wow. I have used the non-flipper captain for some years and never had similar issues, sorry to hear. The only minor “flaw” was the weigth, for a folder.
