SAK Chain
on: January 06, 2019, 06:56:28 AM
Yesterday I added a TEC clip to my Explorer so it want 'fall' as deep into my pocket and it's easier to reach. But, it think it would be easier to have some kind of little chain between the SAK and the clip.

I remember seeing something like this last week on the forum, but can't remember who posted it.

The chain only needs to be like 3 or 4 cm's. Any ideas?

They make those small chains with the little clasps (kindof like a necklace) if you can find one.

I’m sure that there are a few other things as well :tu:

Victorinox has the belt hanger, is that what you mean? you can configure it in several ways:

I actually only need the right little chain. That would be perfect…

I have the Vic one, the little chain is still a little too long if you don't have a wide belt, but I like it.

You can source those chains in a crafts store and cut them to whatever length you need, I'm from USA  there are lots of places here that have them, Maybe another European member can help, but I'm sure you can get it on ebay or etsy and snip the links with diagonal pliers or a multitool, if you dont have that tool or dont want to mar your MT, you can also bend the links apart. You can also get the swivel lobster clasps on eBay or you can make a paracord version, lots of tutorials on youtube.

Let's see if I can find something in a hardware store or so. Or tips where I can buy this little chain in The Netherlands.

You might have seen my Swisschamp in the challenge

I picked up the stainless chain at a hardware store, 5 links equals 4 cm

It wasn't yours. Someone who bought a cheap little clip.
But yes, what you have, that's kind of the idea. Let's see if I can find something this week.

Just realized something. I had an old keychain lying around with a little chain on it.
It's a perfect fit!!!

Only need to replace that little ring for a little keyring. But for now…
Problem solved!!!

Darn! Too bad, it looked great.

Maybe try Greg's suggestion, with that other chain type.

Got bolt cutters? Short length of light dog chain should be quite robust, say one suitable for the toy breeds. A meter and half of leash should give you lots of styling tethers, a chain collar is still going to be like 30cm or so.

In our hardware store I can buy as much as I want. They have different sizes on rolls. See what I can get.

Had another idea which I think is even better than a chain.
I've put a little S-biner Microlock between the knife and the TEC P7 Clip.
It's the perfect length and this way I can easily switch it out to another knife within my EDC rotation.
