Hey fellas,

anyone else have a similar one? The sources I've found usually show the 84mm Golfer without keyring, but how about the 91mm version? Special order for advertising use or more regular production?

This dates to around 1987-1991, no pen and no pin hole. Grooved corkscrew and scissors with screw. Quite nice and comfy without the ring and nub, actually!

Don't have one like that myself, but the Compact has been one of my long term EDCs (until the Pioneer X).
Nice looking specimen!

I was hoping this thread was about the 'original' 84mm. Horn scaled and no keyring or shackle either.

I have one, but the scales are in bad shape.

More of a Fieldmaster.  Look at those prices!
First time I've seen the 93mm referred to as 3 5/8".  Bothers me that they are listed as 3 1/2" in modern catalogues.

Ahhh yes, the old "let's recycle the names until no can can keep track" -thing. I've heard of the Sturdy Boy before, not seen a Golfer like that earlier, and the Cadillac and Motorist are completely new names to me. What year is that catalog page from? Judging by the prices, rather a few decades ago?

Textron Lycoming--cool! I collect SAKs related to the defense aerospace industry, among others. They're a big enough company, so I wonder if this is something they specially ordered.

There's a interesting point, is/was Victorinox willing to do an SFO run with such-and-such little detail, if an order is large enough or the company asking influential enough, or is it mainly just special scales with advertising printing?

Yes, yes they are.

Okay, that would logically lead to the question, why the lack of keyring? Textron Lycoming was the operator of the Stratford Army Engine Plant, where they built gas turbine engines for helicopters, Abrams tanks and the like. I do wonder why a keyring-less Golfer would have been their corporate advertising/promotional SAK of choice?  Perhaps some exec just liked the looks of it?  :D
