Maybe we could ask for a new Tough Guy badge
Seems like a reasonable request! :iagree:

 :pok: Mods. :pok:   :D

I might be stepping in it, but I think such a lofty badge should require 30 days

I don’t think 30 days should be a problem  :tu:
There are enough tools on the Schrade :D

To be honest, there are many MTs, from other popular manufacturers, that are way worse. I've carried a TT for a couple of weeks before and rather enjoyed it. But, that said, it takes some acclimation. :ahhh

It's the only multitool I've owned so I can't compare, but it sure has and continues to serve me well, roughly 22 years now.

:o Very cool that you've managed over two decades with a Tough Tool!

I am pretty excited about this challenge for sure! The ST1 is one of the few MTs I really wanted early in my MT collecting. My first one was expensive, because they were fetching a premium at the time. Right now I see them for $20-$30 in usable condition(and my unused example was only $40). Definitely a good value for the function the ST1 offers. :)

Noticed that too. Used to be, even well used ones were fetching $30-40. I got mine last year, with the leather sheath even for $15. Only problem was that the blade and tiny screwdriver tips were slightly bent, and spray paint spatter was on the sheath. Interesting that every one this same guy is selling on eBay at the moment are $30 in WORSE shape. I think in part I got mine cheap because this guy semi-mistakenly listed it with the Taylor Chinese made Tough Tools; in fact it was the only USA one out of the several he had to choose from; the "leather sheath" option was what gave it away.

Great find! :like:
The sheath is worth that! The driver tips are commonplace.

Most of the ToughTools I see have slightly twisted small flat drivers, because of how thin they are ground. The U.S.A TT I'll be using for the challenge has the thinner flat drivers ground down a bit to make them a bit thicker/stronger. :)

22 years with a ToughTool would make or break a man. With the Victor gaining Toughness. :viking:

Alright gentlemen, it won't be long now until the Tough Tool challenge. Remember there are three levels of Off-Brand badges. 7-Day, 15-Day, and 30-Day. So please get out those ToughTools, dust them off, oil em' up, and join us for a special challenge with the unique Schrade multitool called the ToughTool! :)

I'm ready, I can date the tool because it was a gift the Christmas after we moved into our house.
And to take it further, until this past year it was paired with a Recruit that predates it by a couple of years, the Recruits been retired for a rotation of Saks that add scissors and a saw   :tu:
Here's a pic of that trusty duo

That is an excellent combo, sir! :like:

The combo I'm using in the challenge will be the ST1 and Explorer. Will even be throwing in a vintage Maglite(circa 1988) to ride along with them. :)

That will be a good set up, after the Swisschamp Challenge I'll probably be carrying the Fieldmaster for at least February, I'm guessing we can pair the Tough Tool then?

Of course. :)

I could probably go without pairing the ST1, but I've always carried an MT, SAK, and light. And, to boot, the blade is really the only thing I really really really dislike on the TT. Will try to use it as a main blade for the challenge, but having a better knife(sak for example) may be needed for extended use during the course. :ahhh

Can't recall I've ever used the main blade once. I have used the scraper blade (the one that also serves to unlock the tools on one handle) to remove paint and the like, but that's it.

I'll be pairing mine with a Spirit XBS but will only break out the Spirit when the TT fails.  This will be an intersting challenge for me.  I've never done anything more than  play aroound with the TT , so 30 days of "ONLY" TT's unique design will be totaly new to me. :tu:

It should be interesting to try out the blades on the TTs. Good to know the scraper blade works on paint removal, as I do a lot of that. :ahhh

:iagree:
Sounds good to me, because I always have a backup MT as well(usually a Pinchy in my back pocket) just in case something goes wrong with the main tool.

I really like these "uncommon tool" challenges quite a lot. It is one thing to do a 30-day with a tool you are familiar with, but it is a whole different ball game with something unfamiliar.

Could you possibly do both at the same time?

Can't turn a bolt with a fixed blade knife. :D

If you can only do the 7 day, that's cool too. It'll be fun having you around after your 7 day is over.

Doing both at the same time would be ideal, and cool because I'm going to switch to a vintage Schrade fixed blade for that challenge, I think the rules say no though

I think the rules apply to having two MT related challenges running concurrently. Will shoot a mod a PM to see. :)

I'm SADDENED you won't be able to make the entire 30 days with us Greg, but ELATED at your short participation and in knowing you'll still be on boad as an unofficial participant (observer) even after the 7 days.  Hope every one else is ready.  I AM!! :salute: :salute:
