looking for a better Vic Spirit sheath
on: December 08, 2008, 04:51:13 PM
I have a spirit s on the way.  I have heard complaints about the sheaths, specifically the velcro closure.  Anything better available?  Something with a snap or "better" velcro?  Nothing too bulky though please.

I will agree with that also.  The standard Vinyl/Nylon sheath that came with mine has proven to be quite durable.

It's a good sheath. Trust us. :D

Otherwise, mod a pocket clip on it and you're good to go. GOOD TO GO.
Got those frog legs.

Kydex! :tu:  I just completed a Kydex duo holster for my Vic Cybertool 34 and my Jetbeam Jet-II Pro. What's nice with Kydex is it's a press-fit that stays that way for a loooooong time, if not forever, or until a very high heat (340º+) source is near to it.  No snaps or Velcro needed. If you don't want Kydex than Victorinox offers some very nice sheaths. Have you looked on their site yet?

Got my Spirit S today.  The quality of the tool is everything I expected.  I carry a Swisstool on my duty belt.

The leather sheath is nice, except the velcro doesn't inspire any confidence.  A snap would have been much better.  I would like a decent leather sheath with a snap or some velcro that is more mil-spec.

I dont particularly care for kydex, although I know it works very well.

Someone recommended this case:

or this one

http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme%20gear/gear%20organizers%20main/tad-s2_sheath.htm

May be a little cumbersome for the tool, but otherwise looks good.

wow that´s a lot of velcro in my opinion but the sheath looks very nicely done anyway. I understand what you mean about the velcro in the Vic sheath, a friend of mine has a SwissTool and after some time of good use the velcro doesn´t work anymore.

Welcome to the Spirit Club :tu: I just signed up few weeks ago

I'm not über fond of the Spirit pouches either. I either use a molle compatible mag pouch , or a leather pouch of my  own devising. Ditto for the swisstool. Blackhawk and Maxpedition also make good pouches , TAD stuff is uniformly excellent.
