Gerber MP650 Evolution Plier Heads
on: January 12, 2019, 06:14:13 AM
Looking for plier heads to the MP650(stainless heads preferred). Mainly the regular needle-nose and cable cutters. However, if affordable, the technician head would be awesome.

Please PM me if you have any to sell. Worst case scenario is that I can't afford the cost of the head and have to pass.

Thanks for relaying the tip, Sam!  :like:

However, since it is a collection tool, original heads are preferable. :ahhh :multi:

Except of course that is precisely what Gerber did in their factory  ie took regular MP600 plier heads and ground/cut the pins down to fit the MP650 catches.

So there was no such thing as MP650-specific plier castings.  If you use a strong magnifying glass you can see the marks on the nubs where they were ground down/cut off.

The high price MP600 Cable Cutter and Fisherman tools usually fetch on the open market means it may be cheaper to buy the heads.  The regular SS NN MP600s often sell cheaper, so that may be a practical donor.

Thank you for the clarification, Greg! Will be selecting a doner 600 NN head tomorrow for conversion. I think I have a spare head somewhere.

That will work.  Just us the BN MP650 head you have as a guide on how to grind the pins on the MP600 plier head.  The front pin is just ground down out of the way, while the back one is ground at a ramp angle so it can slide into the catch  on the inside of the handle.

From Time to time they show(ed) up on ebay.de IIRC as Cisco Zangenkopf / Gerber - I think Greg got some of those he parted with over me from this source in the past.
If I find any on teh bay, I´ll post a link.

At the Moment I can only offer a complete civilian MP650, SS Version, 3 plier heads. :D

If the clips inside the handle are unbroken I might be interested.  What's the condition and how much do you want for it (with postage to Oz) ?

Greg, to be honest, I have to have a look at the MP 650. It sits in a drawer in it´s sheath. I´ll have a look and take a quick pic or two.
