SAKs and Music
on: January 18, 2019, 09:08:39 AM
Not too sure if a thread on this topic exists... On the road all day today and the stereo is there to keep me company... especially convenient during heavy traffic jams...

At the moment, am listening to this...

Please do share pics of what you’re currently listening to along with your SAK(s)...

Alrighty then... time to pump up me Journey tracks... rock on...

Car Pool Karaoke anyone?

Just a small town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere
A singer in a smoky room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on, and on, and on
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlights, people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night
Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on, and on, and on
Strangers waiting
Up and…

But of course i mean the "Real" Genesis -- From 1968 to 1998 (from "From Genesis to Revelation" to "Calling All Stations")

Same way as i mean the "Real" Floyd -- From 1967 to 2014 (From "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" to "The Endless River")

Same way as i mean the "Real" Marillion -- From 1983 to ...still going... (From "Script for a Jester's Tear" to "F.E.A.R.", ...so far...)

And a lot of other bands / artists from a multitude of genres.

I'm not really that much fond of "Tribute bands" when i can have the original...

I understood what you meant perfectly mate, just messi'n with 'ya...

Thing is..., i'm a fan of (good) music first and farmost, and then i'm really a fan of The bands, not only "periods" of them. Every "eras", "periods" have their goods and bads, their ups and downs. As long as the music is good and more importantly if it moves me and inspires me, i'll listen to it (and play it too).

Probably the most common comment's that seriously annoys me to read about the above bands, for example, are:

"No Gabriel and Hacket - No Genesis"
or,
"No Watters - No Floyd"
or even still,
"No Fish - No Marillion"

Oh com'on man, be fair now... Even if you don't like Phil's singing or fronting the band (which I do...), nobody can deny he is ( or at least was...) one of the best (and tasteful) drummers in western music. The precision and finesse on his drumming, as well as his distinctive attack, are brilliant.

I distinctly remember the first time i saw Phill playing the drums, i was literally "jaw dropped"...  :sa:

BTW, i also like quite a bit of his solo stuff too. The very first songs i ever learned to play on the keys back in the 80's was "One more night" and " Against all odds", believe it or not...

Yeah I do Love Phil and its the real thing too but......
It was just tough to take at his first ascent from there.......change is bad and all!

When they came thru here they were blazing Chester & Phil and Bill Bruford sat in the show and it literally blew the place to shreds!
Not kidding,I saw them here at a theatre whose doors closed for good the next day as it was no match for those Bass Pedals and the roof caved in that night!

Ahh the Good Old Days!

I ran the grooves off of Face Value for sure with the title cut being my favorite and I used to play a lot of them DJing back then and still do!

I still sell Audio and still Demo with early Genesis tracks every day,I just wish the recordings were better sometimes but along with YES and Little Feat and all of the Blues derived from that time Genesis is still a huge favorite to say the least!

Yup, the goo'ol Taurus bass pedals.... they where (and still are) a massive staple in the "prog" sound. Still dream on getting one, someday...  :dd:
That... and the Yamaha CP70 electric piano  :D
