Tools used, scissors to cut out insurance cards (unlike my previous provider, they aren't plastic, just printed on a big heavy card sheet; that's poorly perforated) and ruler to size the opening on the tip of a  skeleton key in order to see what size the spare would be; so I can carry the spare, not the "original". We have a few pieces furniture that has the old skeleton keys with locks, but were purchased without the keys. I plan to replace the keys to all of them. I think my old (1830s) drop leaf desk is the only one that has a key, but that's only to the leaf, and there's three large drawers on the outside with Swedish locks that lack keys. The old radio cabinet my collection is in I also plan to retrofit a lock into it.  Believe it or not, my folks don't have a whole lot of money invested in these old pieces of furniture.  I got the desk for my birthday, and it cost under $200 at a local used furniture place.
