I’ve been late posting today and missed half the action! Congrats everyone for finishing the challenge. It’s been great fun and I’ve really enjoyed participating and learning to do more with my fixies  :tu: :tu:

Here’s my day 30 contribution. A nice juicy steak to celebrate!  :woohoo:
That will definitely work for me!  :woohoo:
And Congratulations!  :hatsoff:

Day #30 - finishing strong doing some fruit prep for my little girl!
Like everyone else already said, it's been great fun to be a part of this challenge! Thank you Nix for kicking off with it, otherwise, I would have stuck to the folders that have been my main carry for years!
Thank you also, to the other participants, for the great pictures, great uses and great knives!

It's now time for one little guy to hand over the torch to another little guy for the Minichamp challenge, but not before a short summary.
The knife I chose for this challenge is, like I said in the beginning, a Chinese clone, which, since then, I've made unique, after reshaping the blade. I've also added some o-rings for added grip.
It's great for opening packages, precision cutting (like a scalpel), and also carving (great control).
Obviously, bigger tasks are off, due to the small size of the blade, but I still managed some food prep with it!
Overall, it has earned a place in my office bag, next to the x-acto(hobby) knife, just not around my neck.

Below, I'll also leave a picture of the two fixies I've used during the challenge, and one of my very humble fixie collection.
From the left:
- Hurricane razor clone. The star of this challenge.
- Izula clone.
- Browning Elk Ridge - didn't realize it was so small until I received it
- Nieto Yesca Mini

The two in the middle, I received during the challenge. The Elk Ridge has yet to see any use, because I hate the nylon sheath.

Day 30

Kind of like the Millennium Falcon, she ain't pretty but she has it where it counts.  It took me two days to make this knife under the watchful eyes of my teacher; one day for forging and the next for scales, grinding, and sharpening.

I guess the fact that I made this knife means that I am biased but she has been a great knife. Easy to sharpen, holds a good edge, and just feels great n my hand. She should serve me well as an all-around camping and hiking knife, not too big to be a nuisance and just big enough to handle most cutting tasks.

As much as I like the kydex sheath, I feel a leather sheath would be more appropriate, and given Nix's great tutorial, I feel inspired to try my own hand.

A huge thanks to everyone here. It is a lot easier to finish a challenge when you have others to push you.

Congrats sak60

Thanks Poncho for the badge, and thanks also for the calendar badge

I will be putting a fixie in my work rotation for sure, for weekends i will go back to slipjoints , while i was always legal to carry for the last 4 weeks i always had to think about when and where i could carry the fixed blade, going back to slipjoints means i don't have to think about it as much   :D

I never really got the neck knife thing and always assumed it wasn't for me... without trial i'm afraid so put me down for a challenge should one be on the cards, very interested in seeing how we get on, i would of course go in with an open mind and give it a fair go  :like:

And now for the one i didn't want to carry, only as it's unsuitable for my needs, great knife though.. the extremely bored sentenced to a life of kitchen duties, never to be taken on fishing adventures and forever stuck indoors Helle 115,   :salute:

hehehe.

"FL" is the two-letter abbreviation for the state name of Florida. FL = Florida.

Other than that, there is no specific reference.
Hate to disappoint but, after the "F" comes a capital "i" not an "L"... A different font would have made it easier to tell the difference.

Some final thoughts on the Stuart Smith bearing knife for the Feb challenge. It kept a good edge (edge hardened) and was good for general tasks. The simple design was easy to maintain with a quick rinse and wipe and a little oil to keep the surface pristine. The sheath was nice and deep so kept the blade secure, and I liked the extra detail Stuart put into the design. But I noticed he failed to stain the inside (a note from the sheath tutorials we had). Many of my usage was food prep, and this was where the high carbon steel stained instantly on contact with many foods, especially onion and even cutting meat. Just a gentle patina, but something you either polish off immediately or let build up. All in all a good knife that I enjoyed using and will certainly use for more tasks.  :tu:
