Day 10

We often make pork pies for school lunches in the coming week. We use Paul Hollywood’s recipe which is dead easy to follow and gives consistently good results. Everything from scratch (well not quite catching the pig and grinding the flour). Rope my 11 year-old in for the flour mixing and pastry work. The Smith knife worked great for chopping the pork and bacon, but the high-carbon steel does not like onion and immediately tarnished. Fixed later with a little oil and fine steel wool. The pies are now cooling, waiting for their gelatin that goes in the top.
Pork pies...that sounds nice and tasty!  :like: :tu:

And, Max, what a great Dad thing to do. I love it that you are getting your son involved and teaching him some nice self-reliance skills. He's going to remember making pies with his Dad for the rest of his life, and pass that tradition on to his children. That's awesome!
:iagree: well done!

Looking through my leather scraps as I thought I might do one for the Green River along with Nix’s great sheath tutorial. Not enough, and I see it already started while I was sleeping.

You might be able to make one with those pieces.... :dunno:
No but I need to get more anyway

 sorry...I hope it doesn’t stay in your head all day long.
When I worked there years ago...I used to clean the W.E.D. building at night. I loved looking at their drawings. What they threw away was sad, but if we were to take it, we would have been fired. A lot of talented people there.

Day 10:

(Oooops, I lost track of my numbers. I entered Day 05 two days in a row and fell behind in my sequence. Back on track with Day 10, today.  :-\)

Making Welsh Rarebit (always called Welsh Rabbit here) for lunch. Recipe calls for 1/2 cup of dark beer.

Dutch_Tooler can feel well assured that the cap lifter on the Ulu works very well!   :tu:

Now.....what to do with that leftover beer......
