Nix again excellent tutorial however i would like my sheath to be curved at the bottom like the buck pictured below, am i right in assuming i just carry on the curve (dotted line) to the centre line ? then add on half an inch all the way to the top to make space for the welt ?

Day 13

I love following all the tutorials, very inspiring. Just not enough time or resources to have a go at this right now, but I do plan to do a small MT holster when I get the chance.  :tu:

A quick pose with a banana today.  :)
:iagree: excellent tutorials!
Of all the fruits out there, I am not that crazy about bananas...don’t know why as I love plantains.  :dunno:

Yes. That's what I do.

(Image removed from quote.)

Blue = Knife outline, Brown = Leather (sheath outline and welt (shaded)).

I find that I like to bring the profile line into the centerline at a near 90º angle. But....now that you have me thinking about it....I'm not sure why. Maybe it just shortens the sheath OAL? But It may also make it a bit easier to fold over the center line the you go to stitch (and glue).  If the tip of the sheath is very sharp (acute angle) it can be a bit tricky to line up.

But, I'm still learning and may be wrong. Perhaps I just need some more experience!   :tu:

Edit: the 1/2" margin is my thing. I've seen some skilled guys use a 1/4" or less. I just like to make it easy on myself.   :D
That 1/2 inch margin sounds great and like you said, makes it easy on yourself.  :like: :tu:

Thanks Nix  :hatsoff:

½" sounds good, i'm more likely to hit it when the sewing starts  :D

Shape cut out, i will glue on the welt and call it done for tonight, i will look out an awl and another needle tomorrow  :tu:

GREAT Tutorial NIX.  I want to reiterate an ealier suggestion.  Starting a thread in the sheath and bag subforum then doing a copy and paste of all your hard work would help a lot of people and just might get some others to follow your AWESOME lead.
  :hatsoff: my friend.
That would be a great ideal!

They have a very narrow ripeness window. Good grab-and-go food, but also not my fav.  :iagree:
