Got these Gerbers in a package deal.............
on: February 16, 2019, 01:53:41 PM
I bought a package deal with quite a few different brands of tools, and got these in with them too. All brand new and unused.

I know nothing about Gerbers, and these are infact my very first ones. The black T3 looks like a more 'normal' design, but the other two are of a very different design and something ive never seen before. The pliers shoot out at the press of a button, almost at the speed of light!

Very cool tool though and very different to the usual multi-tool designs.  :tu:

The first tool is the Gerber Recoil aka mp500 model. When u see a safe and ready catch on a multitool, you know they meant business.. Imagine it as ballistic pliers that does shoot out all the way.. fortunately.  :tu:

Very nice additions to your collection! :like:

Ask Chako about the Recoil before putting one in your pocket. :ahhh

Thanks all.

Oh no Chako! That actually made my eyes water thinking about it!  :ahhh

After a quick google, it seems the recoil is pretty hard to come by brand new and unused.

Don't think it's one I'd use in all honesty, but definitely one to keep being quite different.

Is the T3 more common then? Any rough idea on estimated values for these? I know absolutely zero about Gerbers as you can tell haha!

The recoil is a fun tool indeed.  It is one of my favorites for just plain old every day fiddling!  And, when it fires, it means BUSINESS!   :ahhh

If you should ever feel the need to rid yourself of both or either, please keep me in mind!  :D

The Terminator 3 Gerbers are pretty uncommon. Though, the MP400 itself, isn't uncommon.
I've recently acquired the Terminator MP400, MP600, and MP700. The 700 being a special tool for the promotion(shined up silver finish and T3 badges). The 400 and 600 T3s are only distinguishable by the faint T3 stamp. It does make them a bit more valuable.  :)

Great finds! Those Recoils are an amazing catch. The MP400 is one of my all time fave MT's. Welcome to the club dude.

Thanks all, and thanks very much for all the info. I appreciate it.

I've had a little play with T3  and I've taken a liking too it. I wasn't sure at first but I really like the simplicity of it and that it's really light.

Great little tool!

Congratulations!

Another fan of the MP400 here. I've been using one on and off for a few years now, and it's a brilliant little tool. The Recoil is actually quite a capable tool too. It's a quirky thing, now just with the high velocity pliers, but the two combo tools too. They do the job though :)

Glad you're enjoying it. The 400 is quite a well-rounded tool.  :)

I'm so doing that at my work too.  :D

Though, admittedly, I won't be using my T3 Gerbers. In the movie(thanks to ThePeacent for pointing it out), he uses an MP800. I'm fairly certain that Gerber never made/marketed a T3 800(just the 400, 600, & 700)?

Maybe Gerber looked at ease of MFG/Labeling..The Basic Models look pretty easy to custumize with alternate labeling with a Minimal Amount of effort or figured these are the lower cost options that folks bieng swayed in by an Impulse Purchase would gravitate too anyways..I hear they really went in quite a bit across the lines with Walking Dead package themed products
