Most of you probably awlready know about this method of building a fire. There are a few more tips and ideas in this video, though. Hope you like it.

I've seen this. Guess it for sheath but if I needed to make fire I can assure you I'd light a big ole FIYA so I could be seen and stay warm

Still, there's some good advice. Like being careful of the pine roots, not to cause a forest fire. Not over fuelling the pit, because the flames can get real high real quick.

Yes for sure. Here in Cali thats a big no no in the back country. Fire is always a big problem. The Dakota fire hole in all seriousness is a good option for those reason and in windy conditions.
