Slovakia knife
on: January 24, 2019, 02:11:11 AM
Hi Guys;

Just came into possession of an old knife manufactured in Slovakia.

Is there anyone out there who could direct me to where I can find out a bit about this beauty?

Be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I don't know anything about the knife, but it is cool to see a knife made somewhere that I didn't know produced knives. :like:

Czechoslovakia, so it may have been made in what is now the Czech republic. (I was told that most of the knife making was in that area)

Since is says Czechoslovakia it was made before 1992

OK, so the company seems to still be operating, in the Czech republic

here are some products

"About Mikov:

The MIKOV Company is one of the oldest knife companies in the Czech Republic (former Czechoslovakia). Established in 1794 by Ignac Rosler it quickly became the leading producer of quality cutlery in its region. In 19th century the company had two factories - Sandrik and Koh-I-Noor. In 1955 those two factories united and MIKOV company was founded. Nowadays MIKOV is  the biggest knife company in the Czech Republic - a manufacturer of a wide variety of folding knives, fixed blades, kitchen cutlery, scissors and office equipment."

Thanks for that guys.

I have never seen a knife made in Slovakia, so I thought it might be different.

Another for my collection.

I think I have this exact knife....wait....

Yep, in slightly better condition.

It's probably a perfectly good little pocket knife (weighs practically nothing!) but I never liked it....

When I saw the name Koh-I-Noor I remembered I had purchased a set of Rapidograph pens made by them awhile back.I bought them in an antique shop awhile back for the grand sum of $2! The set was missing two of the tips but otherwise was intact. I was shocked when I went on e-Bay and found out what they were asking for individual pens!
