A quick rebuttal to your information, Nix, if you don't mind. :pok:

5 reasons to squeeze the tea bag:

1. You're cheap and want more than a cup from that sucker.
2. You like the way a squishy hot tea bag feels.
3. It makes hair grow on your chest.
4. The darker the better.
5. You're Butch.

Yeah I know, only a barbarian from the colonies would squeeze a tea bag. I drink Earl Grey, English breakfast, & Irish breakfast teas & not only do I squeeze the bags but I leave them in the cup & wait til the last sip to do the deed. Got to get all the flavor possible you know.                       :hatsoff:

Myself and a lot of people I know do that too. I don’t see anything wrong with that

The way I drink my tea would probably make all pure blood Englishmen, Englishwomen and Englishthings ball their eyes out. Not only do I squeeze the bag in the end I also leave the bag in the water for so long that the tea has roughly the consistency (and taste) of tar.  :D

But that's nothing compared to what my grandfather used to do when he brew his herbal teas. The thing started with more dry matter than water, you had to squeeze it out if your intent was actually to drink it and not to eat it. and you could pretty much pave a road with the result...

I voted no, I  like twinnings Ceylon orange pekoe, and I just brew as per package directions, very hot water/not boiling over bag and let steep 3 minutes than I dunk it about 8-10 times add sugar and honey. The orange is just the color not a flavor but I find this is my favorite one sometimes try the English and Irish teas, but not a fan of earl grey

If I am drinking a twinings fruit tea I just leave the bag in until I finish the drink. The strawberry, raspberry & cranberry one is my favourite.

OK...* puts on tea-snob hat *...what you are drinking is technically a Tisane, and not a tea. True, in everyday usage, we (I) call a fruit tisane a 'tea', but it ain't. Tea is only made from the leaves of the Camelia sinensis plant, the tea plant. Herbs, fruits, etc...are used to make tisanes. I think a mix of tea and herbs or fruits is still called a tea, but my puritanical snobbery doesn't extend that far, and I might be wrong (happens every year or so).

I love orange and licorice tisanes! And I leave my 'tea bag' in the mug when drinking a tisane.

So, yes, squeeze your tisanes, just don't squeeze me tea!

Orange pekoe is a tea leaf rating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_leaf_grading#Orange_pekoe

If I drink tea, it is usually a Darjeeling black. Second harvest is my preference, because of the nice blend of aroma and acidity. Usually steeped for 5 minutes using loose leaf in a tea ball. No squeezing the tea ball and no chewing the spent leaves. Pinky never out, as that sort of thing will get you shot in Alabama.

Yes, I do squeeze if I use tea bags, however, no fingers needed for the squeezing: Scoop the bag with the teaspoon,
wrap the string around the bag, pull. and the squeezing action has been done... ;)

However, I don't use teabags anymore, as I brew my tea in a cast iron pot from loose leaves of English Breakfast Tea  :pok:

Yes, full on with milk and sugar
