I am sure Sheffield went the way of Winchester many years ago. Brand names and trademarks sold off to some super-production factory in China. Not the good Chinese factories, like Ganzo, but the type of factories that make SAK copies with no heat-treat on the metal.

A quick Google turned up some comments on other knife forums. Definitely nothing to do with Sheffield, England. Just another Chinese brand using a known name to impress prospective customers.

There’s actually a formal accreditation to claim made in Sheffield today:

Thank you much for the information, Max! :salute:

Checking the link out, I am fairly certain the double headed "Sheffield" MT doesn't meet the accreditation requirements.

Nice GLBM. Looking at those great looking anodized frames, I wonder if anyone thinking of anodizing a Free yet?  :dunno:

Thank you, Max!
There was a video where a guy copper plated his Free P. But, he didn't have enough torx bits(you just need 2x T8...lol) and dipped the whole thing in, elastomer and all. It did look good though, when he finished.
I would love to see some anodized handles in red, blue, and/or green. A BO version would be cool, but the Free would be costly to effectively work with an oxidized layer on the tools.
Edit: Just realized that anodizing the 420HC handles on the Free wouldn't be very durable. They would be best with a plating of some sort. Gold would be striking, if a bit obnoxious. The guy's copper plate was cool too, but that just tarnishes(though some people like that).

Indeed, it sure is a beautiful tool. Only thing is, is that high polished tools and sweaty hands do not work out so well. And during the summer, my hands sweat like crazy.

Agreed. You are expanding nicely. I just scored a Gerber Center Drive today. Now I think I may need to get myself some of those Leatherman Free models someday.

Thank you, Chako!

Nice one getting the CD. One heck of a neat tool and a serious update to the MP line. Though the 600 is still king, the CD fits some user's needs better. :)

The Free series is quite nice. If you are testing the waters, the P4 is the one to get first. IMO anyway. :)
