Love my 111's
on: January 31, 2019, 06:36:32 PM
111 ? Man-size !
I just love them. I prefer to obtain them in "pre-loved" condition, and restore them as close as possible to factory luster.
When I can, I re-scale. Sometimes I have to replace the main blade. Sometimes I have to remove what remains of the serrations.

Sometimes I had to buy a new one, it is the case for the gorgeous Garant.

Special mention for my ex-german army OHT with "flat" eye, the serrations were damaged so they had to go, and the scales had to be replaced.
It has been one of my EDC's so to speak, I should say EDU (everyday user) because it is most of the time ready for use in the kitchen or workshop.

- Rucksack 0.8863 W serrated ;
- Cow-boy 0.8923 ;
- Nomad 0.8351.C  ;
- Forester 0.8363.4  for Metabo ;
- Trailmaster Grip 0.8461.MWC941 ;
- Trailmaster Grip earlier version ;
- Nomad special run for Garant.

On the top of the pic, on the top of my list, my beloved EDC/EDU, so easy to open for a southpaw.

Spotlight on the Metabo-scaled Forester. Metabo is a well-known and respected brand of power tools in Europe (like Makita or Black and Decker in the States).
If you asked me I would replace the CS with a Phillips, but I guess this knife was meant more as an advertising incentive than a purpose-built tool.

Spotlight on the gorgeous Garant. Again, I would have preferred a Phillips instead of the CS.
Everything has been already written on the special scales incorporating a ballpoint,
which is standard issue on no other 111 that I would know of, and on top of that, in orange.

Couple of years ago I had rigged myself a custom knife I called the blackmaster. Tweezers borrowed from a Garant.
Eventually a buddy sweet-talked me into parting with it.

That is an awesome collection you have there

I have a 111mm soldier and hunter, and I agree with you, the 111mm is the perfect size for a EDC knife.

I might at a later point give a 130mm a try at some point, but but for me both the blade and the saw in the 111mm works great.

My only complaint (and it seems to be on all SAKs) is how the philips driver that replaces the cork screw isn’t locking and can fold to both sides, this is a bit annoying I think. But that’s also the only thing I don’t like.

Bakers knives are sharp to the point of being dangerous. There are billions different advertising models to collect.
Would any senior/prominent member know of existing threads on Bakers and Secretaries I could add to ?
