[HELP] Identification : Fiskars Pliers
on: February 02, 2019, 07:22:04 PM
Hello Gerber fans!
As a SAK collector, I don't know much of the pliers based MT, but ...
I came across this nice pair of pliers today, looks like Gerber MPx platform, but with the mother brand "Fiskars" stamped on them instead...

It looks a lot like Chako's Fiskars MultiPlier but with quite some differences :

so there are a few questions pending :
- is it another variation? a very well built fake?
- from which era is that?

thanks for your help

I think you find most of the answers to your questions in Chako's topic that you refer to in your OP  :D.

It's not a fake, and if you use it a bit you'll see why this tool is part of the Mr.Pinchy family  ;).

Don't know exactly which type it is, my Gerber collection is very modest, but it's sure cool to have one of the "Fiskars branded" ones  :tu:.

Thank you TG!

I wasn't sure for two reason:
The price (it is mint and I paid 10€... Even fakes cost usually more than that)
The tools/configuration that don't match exactly chako's  Fiskars' stamped pliers (not the same 'version' ?)

You're welcome my friend  :salute:.

Like I said, I'm not a Gerber speSmurfpillst (like some MTO members), but I'm quite sure it's real, and at 10€, looking as good as it does, it's a steal in my opinion, great find  :tu:.

As TG24 says, it is definitely the real deal (ie not a fake).  Yours seems to have been made around the same time as the v5 Mr Pinchy (it has rivets on the plier sliding mechanism)

Fiskars owns Gerber, and for some reason they decided to make some Mr Pinchies with their own brand on them.  They also reverted back to the large awl, just to confuse things re tool load.  They sold them with a bright red nylon sheath, but those seem to have been lost on most.

here it is, on top,
shiny "EXCALIBUR" printed on it, made in the Dalian factory in China, where Paul Chen has some of his designs made, it came in a FISKARS branded clamshell, and uses the Gerber MP sliding pliers design and chassis  :hatsoff:

@ThePeacent: That is a very nice mix for one single pair of pliers!

Now, I guess I belong to the Mr Pinchy owner club  :multi:
