Is this Rescue Tool genuine?

From what I can see, it looks pretty legit, but I'd feel better with some other experienced eyes on it.

Looks legit to me... one way to be sure is to ask for closeup pics... Victorinox Swiss Made should be to the left of the thumb hole (show side)...

The seller lives 10min from me so I made an appointment to go over and look at the goods.

Definitely a good deal... another thing to look out for is the quality of the scale itself... knock-offs would have scales tools not flushed with scales...

I'll also consider standard fit&finish that could be expected and tool lockup.

The price would be lower if the seller would break up the lot. But even after throwing the 2 junk folders away, €40 is still a good deal for just the Rescue Tool :D

It looks genuine to me. Good deal I think!

The common (obvious) fakes look way worse.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

I bought mine direct from Victorinox since I was worried about fakes, but since you are able to see it first hand, this is a good source for spotting a fake.

I'm not too ashamed to pull out my phone on location and compare right there :D

Main things to mind:
- scale hardness
- overall fit & finish of tools (polishing and lockup)
- T&T have to be flush
- Bottle opener has to be liner locked
- Vic markings besides the Spyderhole (left)
- sheath has to be lined with leather

I once bought a fake one before I REALLY got into SAKs, so I know how it SHOULDN'T be :D
I guess the moment I lay my hands on it, I will know for sure by just having a feel of it.

I think one of the best tests is the snap if you open the tools.

Victorinox told me, that this snap is one of hardest thinks to fake!

I managed to convince the seller to break up the lot and offered 30 for just the Rescue Tool.

Turns out my Rescue Tool has a repurposed blade...

"11" is stamped on the side like with a Soldier's blade.
