Lose bit kit holder

My plastic bit kit holders are starting to get loose, some of the slots so much that the bits are falling out . Is there anything you can do to fix this? I remember reading something about it some years ago.

What I've done is hold a lighter under the bit card to warm the plastic SLIGHTLY, then press on the area where the bit will slide into.  Just don't over heat or melt the plastic  .  Mine were done a while ago and are still holding tightly.  Good luck.

Mine snapped and broke apart when just trying to do a little squeeze. Didn't thought of applying heat that time..  mine I think may be a little old and quite brittle... Just something to be careful of.

Stick some cellotape inside, to make the bits fit tighter.

I carry one bit card with my preferred bits. The bit cards are perfect to carry bits in the sheet togheter with the tool. But is there an alternative? Do we have any other ide on how to carry bits.

Yes, that's a well known problem.
What I do to fix it is the following:

1. Remove the loose bit if its still in the holder
2. Heat up a pin
3. Push the pin through the whole compartment layer where the bit is lose
4. Remove any residue on the outside

The bump of molten plastic you'll see on the outside will also built on the inside. That should be enough to hold the bit again.

That needle trick is a good idea Also the same one I use if I ever have a mashed fingernail to let the blood and pressure off Just don't push to hard and let the heat of the needle go through the nail

Hi Nero. What has worked for me is what Aloha said; I've done mine like that on the removable bit holder and has held pretty well, without any markings or telltale signs. Also, I once did it to one of the 21-bit kit cards by dropping the empty holder in boiling water for 1-minute bursts until I was able to squish it ( it works as well, but takes longer. OTOH, it is burnt proof!). Good luck.
