 :iagree:

Gerber is going to regret spending the money to develop those scissors.
But, all in all, I'll reserve a final assessment for after I receive one. I'm pretty sure the scissors handle will be a problem, but hopefully they'll straighten that out before shipping them. Not going to hold my breath.

Ya know, if these MT companies would get on MT.o and ask about this stuff, we would gladly help. But, as of yet, they don't bother. Seems they think the dry erase/pencil pushers know more about multitools than a website full of daily MT users and/or collectors.

The Scissors look absolutely idiotic to me?
I am not sure how they think you can use them at all?
Maybe a 2nd Centerdrive to operate the scissor lever?

Seems the CD+ scissors will be limited to paper, thread, really small zipties, and other soft materials. No cardboard, leather and other harder stuff Gerber scissors usually make short work of.

In other words, stuff that the evaporating carbide cutters can't handle without disintegrating :P

Funny you mention that, because I actually made a video recently showing the carbides on a 600 cutting jack chain and 200LB hard wire. I was surprised too.

Like the look... but my major beef with the Center Drive was that the pry-tool uses the plastic bit as pivot. Oh and the marketing :D
Despite that, I agree, this is a good step in the right direction.

I think the Marketing was Awesome...I am Sorry but it had me laughing quite a bit..They were a bit cheesy but Fun..and to me it was Gerber saying to Leatherman "Oh So You Think Your All That" LOL

The sheath looks nice!

Sent fra min FRD-L09 via Tapatalk

I agree I will be snagging One which is supposed to be available by itself..The Sheath before Well we wont get into that..I tried One of the Sheaths that were marketed for the Tactical Line that You can configure...It wasn't Bad but still not quite what I was expecting and on a Standard belt flopped and moved around a lot..I am sure in the Enviroment that Gerber was pushing which is Military LEO I am sure it is perfect That Leather Sheath looks to be the ticket for Regulare Guy Use

not tool related, but I resent the use of terms like "market disruptor" and "changed the game" in their release...

Adding a competitive seller to the market is not changing or disrupting the market, it is simply being involved in it.

If someone puts out a sonic screwdriver, that is "changing the game" - the Centre Drive, as good as it is or isn't, is simply "playing the game"

I thought we all agreed a few years ago that combo blades were bad? the PE blade on a Center Drive was a point of difference and in my view a selling point over the LM MUT.

if the scissors turn out to be impractical, then that's a dead loss too. I hope whoever was responsible for all this "innovation" is also in charge of the office coffee run, otherwise it's a salary going to waste.

I agree... sort of.

Marketing hype is often just that- hype, and it is the main reason why Multitool.org exists.  We cut through the hype and explain whether something is real or not.  That's why I usually tend not to put a lot of faith in the marketing, and instead speculate on pictures and info until I can actually test the item first hand.

There will always be marketers that take stuff over the top- it's their job, and they likely get paid a lot more than I do to come up with this stuff, so who am I to argue with them?

As for us all agreeing on whether a combo blade is better or a plain edge or a serrated edge, the general consensus indeed is that most members seem to prefer one or the other, but in the end I suppose that is up to the user and the situation.  Some folks like them, some folks don't, and unlike other groups, I don't think we are that interested in making that decision en masse and then enforce it across the board.  :D

Besides, if you don't like it, it can probably be swapped out for the regular one on a standard Center-Drive, or swap the scissors into a regular Center-Drive, whichever you decide.  :D

Someone once posted here a diagram showing the CD's screw driver -when deployed- has an angle and is thus neither parallel to nor is on the central axis of the tool. I was hoping they would fix this on a second version but apparently that's not the case.  :(

I’m glad they’re listening but I will pass on this version. The scissors look hideous and I would miss the serrated blade too much.

And as I keep going back to an MP600 I figure why not stay with the best . . . I like the concept of the CS but I would modify the driver arm design ; the plier heads ; and as much as I used to demand an awl, I would sooner trade that for a lanyard loop. I’m also not very keen on their attempt at a split pry bar — does it really provide enough strength and leverage?

Yes.  It actually does a good job if you use it within the limits of sanity.  Much like some of the users who decry how poorly the cutters work when trying to cut an 8 penny nail, the pry bar will pull same 8 penny but not a spike.

Absolutely on the carbides!! I love those and prefer them to LM. I just don’t go trying to slice up metal coat hangers and smurf heh..
