My thoughts on the ST300

I have tried to use all the tools whilst doing this challenge
The tools I liked using the most have been the
Pliers, PE blade and the crosshead screwdriver
But for me it won’t be a EDC MT
As I would need a bigger range of tools
Like a bit driver and scissors so the Wave and Surge are more
useful for me for EDC as I can do more with them for what I need
I do like the quality of the ST300 and the PE blade
is the sharpest knife I have ever had so far on any MT
But overall I do like the ST300 and will keep using it
Just not as much as the Wave and Surge  :tu:

Day 30  has arrived.
Been a good month with some good gear.
Back to the Wave now and this still my favourite.
I suppose a Wave was my EDC for 15 or 16 years and dont need to even look when for a tool anymore , the fingers know where to go already.

Thanks for a great challenge guys and will look forward to the next one.

Day 30 - I acquired a BO ST300 during the challenge via a trade to obtain clear title after finding it at work and no owner willing to claim.

My first SS ST was found on a 1/2 price rack at Lowe’s a few yrs back and it served me all this time as an excellent carry tool that could fill in when my dedicated tools were in the work truck to far away.

Now retired it sees action for big jobs at home and large tasks at the Y.

I also, just love fiddling with the ST300 as it is my SMOOTHEST opening and closing tool I have.

Here is picture of my two ST300s passing duties to a Traditional for July’s Challenge
And also, with a just acquired 112 LT thin in RED.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Steve, thanks for an excellent challenge and everyone for a ton of fun!  I can't say anything bad about the OG Super Tool... it's a fantastic little powerhouse of a multitool!  If there was a way to take the 300's cutters and serrated blade and combine them with the OG's tools and metallurgy I think Leatherman would have the ultimate m/t.  I like the way the 300 feels in the hand, but it's metallurgy tool wise would keep me from carrying it exclusively.  Either way, this was a great time and I'm glad to finally get a Leatherman badge!! :D :ahhh

Day 30

Firstly thanks Steve for an excellent challenge, I've really enjoyed it  :tu:

It's the first time I've actually used the Original and the 200!
I think they both have a nice selection of tools and I love how slim and compact the Original is, what lets it down for me is the unlocking mechanism, I find it very awkward to use!
It's quite hard on the hands too when using the pliers.

I love the look of the 200 with the quirky locks (definitely need to get a Pulse sometime soon)
The unlocking of tools can be difficult at times, especially with greasy hands which I often have, in my work!

The 300 I find rather rattly and I'm not the biggest fan of the plier heads with replaceable cutters, I find they all tend to tighten up when used hard!
My biggest complaint though is tool clumping which I think is a backwards step in the evolution of the Supertool.

That means my absolute favourite of the Super type tools is the Core with no clumping whatsoever and nicely designed staggered nail nicks for extracting each individual tool very easily.
I also love this older type of plier head, love the fine serrations.
The Core is also quite sleek overall with the lock releases blending in to the design and not stuck out like on the 300.

I don't have any problem with the weight of any of the Supertools, my work trousers have the flappy holster things near the pockets and they sit in them quite nicely and I don't notice they're there!

No use for any of them today so just a picture of them all to finish off the challenge with..........

Sorry for all the rambling.....

See you all in the anniversary challenge....... :tu:

Day 30. Learning the benefits and drawbacks to a tool I typically only carry around the farm; not as EDC was great. For real work, I don't think anything could do better. My file has always been a bit dull, don't know why .It's also the first that made me really want to buy another model--the Rebar. Same selection, a little over half the weight.

In the kitchen today. I didn't use the ST300 for anything. Cut up some chives I'd grown to go on baked potatoes--with my Henckels Motion kitchen knife (Henckels are about the only kitchen knives not made in the Orient I find cheaply at clearance/outlet type stores; and thus it's what I've populated my block with).  I will clean the ST300 tomorrow (the spring stopped up again, and we were out of water nearly the whole weekend; until it was fixed today), but still carry it.  I'm hoping this month, I can afford a used Rebar.

This is my first 30 day challenge I did and I enjoyed it very much. All pictures and uses of the Leathermans where so nice and I learned a lot about the use of the tools. I certainly will join more of these 30 challenges but not right now, I will wait a couple of months before I'll do it again. Thanks to everybody for this wonderful experience, the expertise and all the nice people here

I will award Badges to everyone later today  :tu:  I'm keeping track of who has finished the challenge so no need to apply for them,

I'll take care of it

This has been a great challenge and the most enjoyable for me in a while. Thanks everyone who has made it so    :salute: :tu:

Thanks Steve for the admin work, and thanks to all for participating in this most enjoyable challenge :tu:

Thoughts: I still like my ST for heavy duty on-call presence in a lot of situations, even more than those possible with a stock complement of implements. It is a bit heavy for pocket carry though and as I need a few extra bits anyway to make especially my modded one carry-worthy, a good sheath is indispensable.
