Excellent stuff! Good work on that handle by the way.  :like: What wood was it you used in the end?

Thanks Fuzzy. I believe it is spotted gum... aaand, I'm not happy with the handle. It isn't tight enough in the up and down. I'm not sure if a split was there or if I caused it but a small chunk came off in the bottom of the eye. I also think I took too much off at the back of the eye. It is possible that there is just too much leverage with this long a handle that the short eye just can't deal with. I'm going to make another handle, just not sure I'll get it done during the challenge now due to the vast amount of tidying I have to do in my shed to get to my bench after hastily moving the rest of my junk from the other house

Day 7:

Made some progress on the heirloom today :tu:
Cleaned the eye with an scothbrite pad, filed off the damage on the edge and smoothed it out, now it just needs a handle and sharpening and it's good to go (Image removed from quote.)

Looking forward to the progress on this one  :tu:

I have tofu in stir-fries, adding soy sauce to it is mandatory for me. (And sometimes a little ginger)

But, yes, tofu and soy sauce go well together!  I spiked the soup with a little soy sauce.  ;)

It most likely will be a store bought handle.
People don't take to kindly to getting their trees being cut down

Day 7

Used Chip Chop No1 to chop open a young coconut, that's gonna be one of the favorite use of mine.  Most folks will drain the juice out, then chop it in half to eat the meat, that's easy; but I love to chop open it to drink and eat at the same time. 8)

Nice use. Reminds me of the days in Puerto Rico we use machetes  :tu:

Day 7

A little bucking, then you can see why this wood is hard to split. The bark gives it away but it is twisted grain

day 7: gearing up for a hike tomorrow if the weather holds

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Excellent!

(I'd be up in the hills today, too, but I've injured an achilles tendon. Instead of hiking, I'm cooking.....which may not have the same results.... :D)

Ray, your apple looks like my earlier onion: split not sliced. Did you slice it up further after the initial split?

Yes it was quartered. This is the first time I have found the Snap Dragon apples and the core is so small, kinda like what you find on some pears. But boy do they taste great!
Hope you get to feeling better and out hiking soon!

Is it bad? I've hurt the back of my knee, it's more annoying than painful - I don't think I've torn it badly... thankfully.

Fuzzaxe Day 7

It's been a yucky wet rainy day, but a good day for catching up on paperwork and I managed to do quite a bit... Fuzzaxe on the other hand did bugger-all today.
