Day 23

Some TLC is long overdued for my Fasthawk, and use the rust eraser/steel wool to take care the little rust spots developed, then I tried to use the GB axe sharpener and Spyderco double stuff to bring it back to sharpness.

Those two sharpeners are pretty reliable for all my field sharpening needs, but for whatever reason just don't seem to get it sharp even confirmed with the marker method.  The little axe probably was never sharpen properly to begin with, so out come the worksharp electric sander and finish with some stropping.

Fuzzaxe Day 23

Right... today I got my arse in gear and made a mask for Fuzzaxe.

I really like the design and style of Nixies one and indeed the finish  :hatsoff:, but I wanted to try something a bit different. This was also out of necessity too, as all my leather working bits n bobs including my speady-stitcher are down south - all I had to work with here was a bit of leather, some rivets and some poppers... and lots of knives and sharp things too of course. So I needed to come up with a pretty simple economical design with as few component parts as possible and this is what I came up with... One single piece of leather with just one single fixing.

I'm quite happy with it really, the fit n finish could be a bit better, but considering the lack of tools (especially a suitable bevel cutter) it's not a bad wee jobbie!  :2tu:

day 23: in absence of Altoids, these work quite well

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Day23
More slow cooker cooking.
Where I grew up we had plenty of old school diners but no smokehouses so I grew up with that style of roasted BBQ

DinerQ
4lb Chuck roast (works well with pork too)
2 14oz bottles of good BBQ sauce (Stubbs works well, today I used H-E-B Texas style)
6-12oz of cola, root beer, or DrPepper
* all measurements approximate, just eyeball it

Mix it all up and cook it like you would pot roast. Since I'm using a slow cooker that's low for 6 to 8 hours depending on how far apart do you want it.
As it cooks the roast will want to start to float so you may want flip it about two-thirds of the way through to keep it from drying out on the exposed side.
And yes you will end up with far more sauce then you will ever need in serving it.
Part of the beauty of this recipe is it's simple enough that you can scale it up or down really easy depending on whether or not you're using a roaster a Crock-Pot or just baking it in the oven. Since I use a Crock-Pot I prefer to have my meat submerged in the barbecue which is entirely unnecessary if you say baking in the oven were you use a shorter time and ladle basting it every so often

Pics
1 Opening the beef
2 Buried in sauce before cooking ( this thick sauce will cook down into almost a broth
3 Prepping potatoes
