Fuzzy, we are trying to comport ourselves here as serious axe-men.

We are trying to bring to fruition this first-ever MTo Axe Challenge badge, an honor that should carry with it a degree of respectability. Toward that end, I will continue to encourage the proper use of the appropriate terminology for these historied and valued tools. Borg is even turning over a new leaf. Don't sully our efforts with your callous indifference and wanton, slovenly ways. Show some respect, man.

I can't help it if I'm smurfing dyslexic!

Anyway, I'm not a serious axe-man, I'm a natural axe-man.  :2tu:

I'll try and behave.

Practicing. Used the Vaughan Mini Axe to cut open this box of seed potatoes. The package tape was no match for the mini axe.    :D
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

That is a lovely axe.  :like: I really rate Vaughan Tools - their little pro hammer is one of my best hammers.  :tu:

However, those potatoes could be teeny-weeny new potatoes or great big baking spuds, so I've no way of gauging the size of that axe?

Fuzzy its 11 1/4" long. The axe head is 3 3/4" and the bit is 2 5/16". Its small it'll fit in your back pocket easily.  :)

I've just looked them up - it's got quite a neat thin profile, hasn't it?  :dd:

I've wanted one of these Council Tool Velvicut Saddle Axe for a while. These seem to be mostly sold out. But I found a place that has one left so might talk myself into one before long.    :D

I've look at those before. Very tempting.

I like my Council small axe.  And they use 5160 steel for the head.

Sorry....I probably shouldn't have said that.....

Very tomahawk-like. I could see carrying that. And the weight sounds good.

On the other hand....I do like the bit shape of the large carpenter's axe. I like the extra toe, that seems like it could be pressed into service for a number of different jobs.

Aye, the friction fit really appeals - it'll be more usable for me if I can swap different sized handles or use the axe head as wood scraper... Also, I like the idea that, if I wanted to, I can fit a standard handle to it at a later date... with a dirty big knob.
