Now get a smurfing handle on it quick-smart!!!

Happy Birthday Tazzie!

PS I'm a Jock not an Englishman you smurf!

Fixed it for you, Fuzzy!  :salute:

Oh, excellent, Rob!

In a similar vein, for the second-place near-win, that sweet Fuzzy sent me one, too!  Allow me to introduce Lyndax:

Must say, Fuzzy puts together a splendid prize-pack!  Thanks a million, Fuzzy!

that is a nice prize
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

What kind of wood is it?

This is a chunk of Maple.

I was scrounging for a bit of Osage, but couldn't find a suitable piece. Then this bit of maple caught my eye, so that's where I'm starting. Hickory is a classic handle wood, but why not try something a bit different?

I thought I might be able to use a sledge hammer handle I had in the shed, but Young Bruce's Eye is too big!
I'll need to come up with something else

The bottom portion of a pickaxe haft is ideal - keep the whole thing intact until you've got it shaped, then cut off the excess when you're ready to sand etc...  :tu:

Jack, won't that be nice to have a lanyard hole at the end for the new blink blink keychain you got from Fuzz?  Just saying... :pok: :D

No risk of that here, my wife doesn't like dark chocolate,  ginger chocolate or sour lollies!

I will keep it in mind. The sledge handles are wide enough, just not high enough

If I mess up this Maple chunk, I'll probably go the pick handle route.

But I shouldn't be negative to start out......right? I can do this with a Jack knife, a rasp, and a draw knife, ja?

@comis: I like the way you think. Lyndax deserves a bit of bling.....
