Badge request: my UL cooking setup
on: February 18, 2019, 11:06:21 AM
Hi folks,
Since most of you post about full or heavvy duty cooking equipment, I want to show you my UL dayhike setup.
I own multifuel stove, canister stoves (several) and selfmade alcohol stoves with pots and pans and stuff.

But when I am out alone, wanting a hot tea and some instant noodles, why carry a 100g burner, a heavy canister plus pot?

My current setup is the following:
Toaks 550 pot (54g pot +18g lid)
Esbit titan pot stand for solid fuel tabs 11g
Foil for windscreen about 8g
Spork 9g
This is a total of whooping 101g for everything except fuel.
Add one 14g tab for every half liter of water you want to boil, so for me 2*14g, and I have 130g total.

In my case it was hot porridge with chocolate and a cup of hot tea with my kuksa cup.

Worked in 3°C conditions, and there even are foldable titanium sporks/spoons, so you could get gear that fits into the pot. My LMF spork doesnt.

Hope some if you will like the idea.

Oh one more thing to add:
Already tried selfmade supercat stoves or beer-can-stoves, bout most of them either have a too large flame for the small pot or require extra potstand, plus I would need an extra bottle of alcohol.
May experiment more and have already seen the caldera cone system, but I am not able to make them myself without proper tools in my flat.
