Where do you buy replacment scales?

Hi All,

New to Knights Forum, but long time Swiss Army Knife carrier.

I have carried a Swiss Army Knife for years, but have recently got into collecting mode and and would like to upgrade the scales on some of my knives to plus scales. Where do you all recommend online to go for official Victorinox classic red plus scales?

Any technique recommendations when I replace the scales?

Ebay...

The largest source, hands down.


Pressing on new scales requires nothing special.

Removing scales and keep them usable requires to get them warm a bit. (Soak in hot but not boiling water) or use a hair dryer.

I think I've usually bought scales from http://pizzini.at/ . They even have 74 mm scales.

Directly from a Victorinox flagship store... About 1/3 the price of most scales I've seen sold on the net. Downside is you will not find any "special" coloured scales (say... translucent green etc...). I get some for free too because I go there so often.

In terms of removing and putting the scales, they use a watch case opener tool for removal and a vice with felt pads for pressing the new scales onto knives. It's usually not necessary but it can help a lot when putting on wooden scales for example.

Swiss Bianco has a few aftermarket options, ti and g10. The smooth ti version is a plus scale.

I'll second eBay. I've ordered more than once from a seller in Switzerland,  and he has a lot of the special color scales, like the hunter green or semi-standard camo patterns (woodland and desert; no neon or the new navy camo).

The new Navy Camo can be found on eBay as well. I bought a pair from a German seller :)
