Airsoft Gun badge request
on: November 30, 2019, 04:51:59 AM
Hi, all.

Just pull up my Tokyo Marui airsoft bb gun to play, and here are the pictures of that and a M4 airsoft rifle.

Standing at 15 feet away, shooting a gas blowback gun.  I guess the modern electric version might even be more accurate since there is no difference in gas pressure.  Taping the target on a cardboard box is a good way to capture all those bbs.

I really like this airsoft for its replica accuracy, the weight is almost identical to the real thing and probably a good training weapon.

The safety-action trigger, slide lock and safety lock under the barrel all works, the capacity is a 21 bb bullets, the gas blowback does allow the airsoft to mimic the real gun action.

Another airsoft rifle I own, M4 with electric motor.  All real gun accessories actually work on this puppy(Magpul sights, gun stock, etc), but that's another story for another time. :D

Speedy, I remembered reading about airsoft in US needs to have orange tip, is that what you mean by bright colors?

In the States where people can own real firearms, I can see the reason for that, since modern airsoft are so realistic, and to avoid people mixing up the real gun with the toy ones.  But in other parts of the world where firearm ownership is extremely limited, I think the orange tip requirement might be a little overkill.

Yes the US we have to have those with orange tips but not the whole gun like the UK apparently :o Still the orange does have a certain appeal :D :like:

The, admittedly rather tortured, logic is that airsoft are "replica weapons" and so are controlled by one set of rules, whereas air rifles and pistols are actual weapons and so are controlled under a total different set of rules (specific rules depending on what part of the UK you happen to be in).  make sense? Good.  :D

It's hard to rob a bank if your Glock is bright blue.  ;)

So if I was up to no good, all I had to do is paint my SCAR bright pink and everybody would be like "look at him with his airsoft gun"...

I have a metal AKM but haven't gotten to use it...

Been thinking about putting it up against the wall of my office as a decorative piece.

Yes, but your air gun really IS a weapon (legal speaking), not a "toy" that looks like one.  :)  So, as I understand it; if you were to try and rob the bank with a air rifle you'd be prosecuted under the same legislation as if you used a shotgun, .308 rifle or whatever.  Real gun.  Not true if you used an airsoft (though you'd still definitely be nicked/shot by some very unhappy Police ;) )

So if I was up to no good, all I had to do is paint my SCAR bright pink and everybody would be like "look at him with his airsoft gun"...

Hey, I'm not saying I agree with it or that it makes any sense to me either. :D

Speedy, I'm with you on this one, this is definitely overkill...I kinda wonder whether you could spray paint it or deco it with gun wrap to look better?

Ain't that weird, right?  But I agree with Gareth on this, if show up as bank robbery, police will still probably shoot back regardless.

Hey, I'm not saying I agree with it or that it makes any sense to me either. :D

I hear you mate, I was just pointing out that rules like that could have some weird consequences as well.

I don't own an airsoft gun but I've definitely been drooling over some of them at the local army surplus store or online.

When I was 16 years old (early 90's) airsoft didn't exist yet (or at least not over here), me and my friends did play competition paintball, but if we would've had airsoft guns back then like the ones we see today, I probably would've been playing airsoft instead of paintball.

But now, being 42 years old, It's a bit too late to start playing airsoft in my opinion, but I do really like the look and realism on some of them in the store.  So having them in bright colors, and funny shapes like the one shown earlier here takes away all the fun of owning one in my opinion.

The stuff comis posted here looks great, and I would love to own one of those, a bright colored one on the other hand, not so much...  :P
