Any mt manufacturers as members?
on: February 27, 2019, 02:12:50 AM
I have a quick question, and I apologize if this has been discussed. Are there now, or have there been any members here that were employees of any of the main mt companies? I was just curious, it seems that if I was a representative of mt company X and I wanted to gauge the public's perception on my products, this site would be a great way to see what works and what does not.

There was a Leatherman employee here at one time but I don't think he is active anymore.

There have been a number of manufacturer reps and designers here over the years.  For the most part they like to surf the forum in secret as they don't like to affect the honest feedback they get here.  It's kind of funny actually- the marketers tend to prefer their Facebook pages for what they think is "honest" feedback from suckups and fanboys, while the designers prefer to visit here to learn what people actually want, and what they think about things they already have.

Gerber is an excellent example- because of feedback on this forum they have dropped the 2D phillips across most of the line, and that comes directly from one of their designers.

SOG has had a rep here openly since the very beginning, which is why the SOG forum is at the top of the manufacturer's list.   :tu:

Forgot to add- why wouldn't manufacturers have people here?

If you ran a company and there was a resource like this for whatever product you had, and your design and marketing people weren't making use of it, wouldn't you wonder what the heck you were paying them for?

They get some nice ideas here, but don‘t seem to do much with it though  :pok:
