Got a package in the mail today from kwakster!

The flat iron tools and a set of Super Tool size sockets. :)

First thing I'm noticing about these sockets is that they were not originally made with the Leatherman-knurled-screw pattern. Nope, they started out as standard 7/32 inch hex sockets, made by Stanley/Proto, part number 6907H.

Then the knurl pattern was cut in them using a wire EDM (electrical discharge machining) process. A signature of this process is the rust-colored tarnish residue, as can be seen in the socket close-up photo above.

Anyhow, the sockets work perfectly,as would be expected. I've already managed to put them to work on a Super Tool :D

It could just do with being completely dismantled and properly cleaned up really.  Plus, the handles are really loose on it now.

yes he does.i was thinkin one day, that it wouldnt be impossible to do a wrench to open those...cause the fact is,that there doesnt have to be so many of those "teeths"in that socket..... i think 4-8 would be enough if the fit is tight.but hey Ben,i can loan my lm wrenches ofcourse.or did we atlk about it already at some point :D .today ive been so "out",due to last nite, sorry.

While special sockets are impossible to find, pocket clips for the Kick model only cost $5.00. They work perfectly as wrenches to disassemble the medium-size Leatherman knurled screws. :)

Best of all, I'm sure Leatherman never considered that possibility. >:D :D

Just a reminder about these tools: the set that kwakster sent to North America have traveled to one member in Alabama and another member in Massachusetts. They are back in Michigan now and available. Send me a PM if you're interested. :)

Help needed with a Leatherman micra
Reply #55 on: June 07, 2019, 01:59:45 AM
Hey fellows,

I have been trying to work on a Leatherman micra and haven't had any success. I am trying to get those star shaped bolts off and have tried heat, oil, vise grips, hot water, wd-40 and prayer. And I cannot get them off. I have a few of these that I got for a good price and I'm trying to clean a couple up to give to a friends kids and I'm trying to mod the others. The only things that I have seen that might help me is a tool that was made by kwakster. If you guys know of anything that may help me get these bolts off would be greatly appreciated.
