Nice, Wim. Looks like a Kiridashi.  :tu:

:iagree: It's like a folding version of a marking knife.

Is this one traditional enough?
It's an old Eka with a brass spring, which is not stiff at all

Oooooooowwwwwhhhh!!! That's really interesting, I found an old EKA with a brass spring a few months ago... It's the most unspringiest spring ever!

Not much spring in the spring really
And it's worn so when it's open it overextends a bit and when it's closed it sits a bit high so I might not use it to much.
But it was cheap so I can always play around with it at home

It's a shame, as it's a really nice knife, but it has zero tension on the spring when open.

That is a real shame, the EKA's are so lovely otherwise.  :tu:

Mine sure has been a user by a previous owner, but it sharpens up really quick! I think it took me 1-2 minutes to get it from dull and chipped to shaving sharp, might not have the best edge retention but when it's that quick to sharpen it doesn't really matter :like:

A new brass spring?

Actually, I don't think the wooden scales would survive the process of removing the pins.

Was thinking some kind of stainless, but then you might as well build a new knife

I will try to join as well. The first half of July I'm going to travel around in France, so I plan on using an Opinel No 08 Carbon.

01 - Barry Rowland (with a sodbuster)
02 - Nix (with another sodbuster)
03 - Dean51 (GEC Bullnose)
04 - SteveC (with a drawerful of knives)
05 - Fuzzbucket (with a size appropriate knife)
06 - RF52 (once he gets a sweet trad)
07 - Wspeed (with more size and law appropriate knives)
08 - Borg (with one or more that may or may not qualify)
09 - Antti Lammi ( Opinel N°09 )
10 - zrxoa1 (with a JE Made slipjoint)
11 - Greg Jones (Grohmann modern classic)
12 - Anka (with a genuine Barlow)
13 - getahl (with a Russlock and a P38)
14 - italophil (with Opinel No 08 Carbon)

If I wasn't carrying the Sodbuster, I'd try it with my No. 8.  I love my Opinels!
Great to have you Italophil!

If RF wants an EKA with a functional backspring, there's one here that's not getting any use  :pok: I'd be happy to send it over in time for the challenge  :salute:
