Day 11; most of the morning was spent doing yard work; most of the later part of the afternoon was spent playing Sims 4; not a game I actively play (I've played it 75 hours in 7 months), but I really enjoy it.

I've created a bunch of households; but usually just individuals; never a couple. The first couple months I played the game  I forgot to turn aging off (which I personally don't want in a game), so I pretty much had to clear out my early Sims and start over.  Lauren (left) was roughly based on a real person, only the individual she was based off of was a bit shorter than the 5'6 that is the default height (just under 5") and I wasn't exactly able to get her physical build just right, and I never learned how to use the height slider. Hobart was a slightly tweaked random sim.

... Interestingly the best Hummus I ever ate was from a Kosher Deli in Manchester in the UK, owned by an Israeli but I've never had anything quite as good here. I can still taste it when I think about it! Unfortunately I've never gotten round to making my own which is frankly embarrassing. I really should get off my behind and make some one time.

Well, stop by sometime and I'll fix you the very best ever.  :D   (Super easy to make, btw  :pok: If you want my recipe, shoot me a pm. Because of my possible Guinness WR award, I'm reluctant to post it out in the open.  ;))

Day 12. Today I've decided to be a traditional ninja. The big handle on this knife is actually very comfortable to hold. That's a decided point in its favour. I just wish the main blade was a drop longer.

Day12

Paring a GEC#44 with a barrel knife I got when I was visiting France, always loved the design and usage of the barrel knife.

And a very nice #44  :like: :tu:

So, the Buffalo Jack has an interesting hump toward the pommel-end of the handle. Is there a functional reason for that?  Does it allow better access to the nail nick?  Does it build up the handle for better use?

It's a fairly unique design. I guess I'm asking if it is an aesthetic choice or is driven by function. Anyone have an idea?

The pattern is typically called a "Gunstock"; because of its similarity to one. I do not know if it offers any advantage other than looks.
:iagree:
I know it as a gunstock also because of the style of the grip/handle.

The handle shape is the one thing preventing me from getting one otherwise it's a great size Jack knife. Just not for me and cody's correct on the Gunstock.

I was thinking "gunstock", too; but then wasn't sure about that. Sounds like we have three of us in agreement, at least.  Usually form follows function....but in this case....just cool (unless you are Steve,  ;)).

I think it really depends where you live and what you do for living.  I know I could get by without actually having any tool on me, since I live in a metropolis and I have all the tools at home where I need them.  But once in while, when I need a tool, I would need it right there and then, and it sucks big time without it.  That's why I always carry a SAK with me regardless what other tool I might bring, it does solves 80% of all the problem in my mundane life.

But to be honest, who am I kidding, I am a SAKaholic/tool/knife enthusiast, it is never just about 'need' but 'hoarding'. :D
