Ah, so there are some of good quality. I've been looking at the one they make exclusively for Red Hill Cutlery out of Kentucky using the Small Trapper (3" closed) called the "Bear Trap" which has a serrated skinning blade. Got a little late tonight playing Sims 4, I actually created my first full family (husband, wife, teenage daughter, teenage son) and it adds a whole different layer to the gameplay.

Figure I'd get more stuff out of my pockets and onto my belt with the Ripoffs CO-7 I bought so I could carry a flashlight with my Super Tool 300 and Knipex Mini Cobras. My Rebar fits into the back pocket, the 110 in the knife/tool pocket, and my LED Lenser P6X in the light slot (it's designed for a Mini Maglite).

Wow, that 1921 is in great shape! My 1942 definitely shows being used 77 years, so I don't think twice when I want to tote it around the house (as I don't want to risk losing it). I'm wondering--why a spear point blade? I thought all M1908s were clip-point, and that spear points were an M1891 thing.

Thank you!  I think the spear point was used because it was more utilitarian or general use?  Some would claim it is easier to make 'divot' for bushcrafting or fire making.
I too can't say I know why they use clip point for awhile and revert back to spear point, but could only guess the choice were probably influenced by the popular trends at that time or they were trying to reach a different demographics of clients.  But I am glad they are using spear point nowadays, it indeed is a good general use blade shape.

I don't know why you disappeared from MTO for a while, I'm relatively new here, just a favour please. Don't go again!  :D

Day 14 B

GEC 21 and SW 787 aka Schratcliff

That's just such a great combo. Serpentine frame, clip and wharnie. If anyone was to bring out a modern stainless version I'd not have a chance resisting.

I’m super late to this challenge! But I just barely today got randomly gifted this awesome little Imperial! Looks like this guy is gonna hit the ground running. Can anyone tell me anything about it? When I google it all I find is pictures of a double bladed fish knife with a knife blade and separate scaler/bottle opener. Mine has it all in one blade.

No traditional expert here, but I'd been researching on my toothpick lately.  Judging from the shield, the fish scaler on the swedge, narrow knife profile, I'd say this is a classic 'fish knife'.  By the tang stamp, maybe 40s-50s?

That would be so cool! I’ve been looking for a while for a nice traditional slipjoint and here I just get handed one. In googling I found a picture chart saying this tang stamp is from ‘46-‘56. If that’s true, then this guy is in good shape! Blade didn’t even look sharpened or touched up. Of course... I did have to put a razor edge on it though... it’s a scalpel now!

Lunch with the youngest and her boyfriend, today.  Dinner with the oldest and her brood tonight.  Only time I had was a bit of knife maintenance, in between.

Nice one PitCarver  :tu:
