If I join the challenge i would follow Fuzzy’s example
Especially with the knife laws here in England  :tu:

A traditional challenge is practically custom-tailored, like Jermyn-street suit, for England's knife laws.....

Good to have you on board, Speedy!   :ahhh

Pencil me in  :tu:, can we define traditional though?  i have loads here so hard to choose which one but some of them may not be regarded as traditional  :dunno:

I think that several people will have the same question, Borg.

I'm afraid I'll be useless in answering that question. For me it's a bit like defining the difference between art and what Fuzzy does, hard to define but I know the one from the other when I see it.   :dunno:

For purposes of this challenge, if it's got a tang-stamp that says 'Victorinox' or 'Wenger', it is excluded (not that they aren't traditional, but they have their own challenges.). I think Opinels, Douk-douks, Mercators, Laguoiles, and anything that would fit the name of "Jack knife". If it would have looked at home in Grand-dad's or Grand-ma's pocket, I think it will qualify.

My recommendation: post a pic of a a few that you might want to use during the challenge, and we'll see if we can get a decision from a knowledgable moderator whose name starts with "Steve".

Nice knife!

Seems like a modern take on a traditional design. Let's see if we can get a mod to approve that!

Knives considered traditional would include any of the traditional slipjoint pattern knives including more modern versions like the Lionsteel Shuffler etc. ,  Opinels, Douk Douks, Higos - the Mercator. Friction folders and Lockbacks like the Buck 110.

While there are many traditional fixed blades they don't belong in this challenge.

Ok great, i think i got it.. Basically the 6 at the top no but the rest yes, these i need an excuse to carry so will probably do a day each with them and finish with an old Merc that's not a K55 as i want to carry that longer  :tu:

Will take the Opi and the Capaora out though as i carried them before

I wont include the new Peasant as i'm using it now, also the Buck is getting a month soon, the rest of my non Swiss folders i'm no stranger to so will leave those out too  :tu:

Hope this is OK, don't make me choose one  :D

Thanks just throw me under the bus.

all these - Knives considered traditional would include any of the traditional slipjoint pattern knives including more modern versions like the Lionsteel Shuffler etc. ,  Opinels, Douk Douks, Higos - the Mercator. Friction folders and Lockbacks like the Buck 110.

and these - For purposes of this challenge, if it's got a tang-stamp that says 'Victorinox' or 'Wenger', it is excluded (not that they aren't traditional, but they have their own challenges.). I think Opinels, Douk-douks, Mercators, Laguoiles, and anything that would fit the name of "Jack knife". If it would have looked at home in Grand-dad's or Grand-ma's pocket, I think it will qualify.

Knives would have to have a back spring or back lock, liner locks would be OK if they had a back spring like a boy scout or TL-29 but no Walker liner locks.
Friction folders like the Opinel are good as well.
No thumb studs, spidie holes, flippers or pocket clips.
So a traditional slip joint and a modern slip joint are fine.

On the extreme side the Manly Wasp had a pocket clip but it has been permanently removed so not even the holes show so it could be allowed as well.

From what I see on their site the slip joints are fine as well as the back locks.
