Vintage Fuzz Day 16

Got some great patina forming here. There's something about the clip-point blade in particular that really lends itself to a nice bit of patina.  :tu:

The bright colors are not my usual style, but the Tom Sawyer in me couldn't resist the obvious Union Jack motif.  :tu:

(Image removed from quote.)

If you look at it in the mirror, with your eyes slightly crossed--not too much, but a little--and a squint, it looks just like a Union Jack.

(Image removed from quote.)

I'm guessing that Case went with this gaudy handle to honor Sheffield, England, generally accepted to be the origin of the Barlow.   :dunno:

Wow... stunning pics Jack

Ron Who - Day 13 - Trapper and SAKs

Today: Böker USA 25th Anniversary Trapper with ivory micarta handles.
And I always carry a few SAKs, even during this traditional challenge.
I would lie if I said I didn´t.

I'm missing the reference here. As a full time pro photog I can never be bothered taking pics....  :D

Seriously though, this challenge has been really difficult. I don't have a smartphone and I don't take snaps, not my kind of thing. If you want a 800 year old manuscript perfectly reproduced, check. A beautiful landscape, no problem. A nice portrait, can do. Fantasy weird setups that look like a cross between a dream and sci-fi, yeah, I'm good at that. Still life snapshots? Um, which button do I press on this weird black box thing again?

(Image removed from quote.)

(I used to use one of these actually, MPP, the poor mans Linhof)

Sweet black box...

I still remember when digital first came out; someone said that it wouldn't last.  That 35mm would be around for a long time. I was having a love affair with some old Pentax Spotmatics, at the time.  I miss the old days of lugging a 10 pound camera bag, full of gear.  Coming home after vacation and spending a couple hundred dollars to have the film developed and printed, hoping that something acceptable came back.

Day: 16

I'm blaming this challenge thread, awl you awl, Mark Twain, and, most of awl, McStitichy for this new arrival. It did provide me with a nice 'use' shot to start Day 16, though......

Gotta get back on track here. Thinking about the past will just make me blue.

Keeping up with this is proving harder than I thought,  the grandkids are eating up more of my whittlin time, so the next few days will be a progression.

Day 16 bonus shot

Here's my entry for the ICC #3, the whittlin' challenge.  I think you can tell where I was going with this, it's supposed to be a wizard.  Whittling is not as easy as pitcarver makes it look, my hands were cramping up something fierce!

Matt, I really, really like it.  Case has nailed this one!  The bolsters are big, like they are supposed to be. And strong, not decorations, like they are supposed to be.   :woohoo:

The Fit and finish on mine is quite good. I've already put a few scratches on it from carrying it about in my pockets today. A minor gripe is that there is a touch of recurve in both blades. This is minor and won't be an issue whatsoever.

I terms of size, it is about the size of an 84mm Vic/Wenger. The main blade is a tad shorter than the main blade on my Evo 14. It is heavy for size (which feels good to me) and conveys a sense of solidity. It feels like a real working knife.  :tu:

I doubt I'll be the only one enjoying these gems. Convenient, solid, and practical. Everyone needs one, especially Barry.   >:D  :pok:

Day 16:

Since I had a doctor's appointment today, and I was wearing a pair of shorts that you can't hardly put anything in (most stuff I EDC is too heavy, other stuff just slides out and disappears, never to be seen again) I put the 110 into my Ripoffs CO-7 and clipped the sheath (containing flashlight, 110, and Cobra pliers) into the water bottle pocket in the pack. I put it on my belt later today. Used my hawkbill for most of the cutting tasks to be done today.

Cutting back on the junk food really helped--lost two pounds (that was wearing the same clothes as last time; but with a LM Squirt in my pocket this time; which adds what 2 ounces?) and my cholesterol had gone down 50 points. Which I'm not even sure why it was so high in the first place--I"m only 23.

I lowered my cholesterol years ago just by learning to drink my coffee black.  If you drink several cups a day with milk and sugar that's a lot of extra calories and fat.  That goes for tea as well.
