Thanks for the reply, I didn't know some Buck were made in China.  I kept seeing the Buck classics 110, 112, 55 and just think every Buck was USA made.  I wonder there is certain line are specifically made in China, like the Byrd line in Spyderco.

I spoke with Buck about this. I was told that while there are some knives being made in China (I have one, it is a nice Stockman.), Buck is planning to limit their production to the USA in the future.

Being new to traditional knives, I was wondering if some of the manufacturer’s are facing a final curtain call. Queen is no longer. Schatt & Morgan, which were made by Queen? Company’s still making good knives but are kinda pricey and sourcing a more affordable line of knives to be made by other countries. Ka-Bar has some knives made from over seas.
Like I said - I’m new to traditional style knives so I’m still learning.
I know there are excellent knives from Germany, Italy, Spain etc. Just wondering.

"Sorry, had a touch of food poisoning that sent me to bed."

Missed out on posting, altogether, yesterday.  So that takes me out of the game.   To those left, keep up with the awesome pics.

Post an extra picture today to make up for it and stay in the game  :tu:

Day18

Love this problem child GEC 54, after the very minor rounding at the tang and keeping blades opened for a month, the pull is still a very firm 8-8.5(a little better than the 9 before, 10 being welded shut).  I gonna followed what Dean did, to ever so slightly thin out the tang(maybe a 3-5deg inclination), so the initial pull could be lessen.  What do you all think?

Posted in this thread so wouldn't derail this one.

I think it is a real pleasure to carry a simple knife in the pocket.

In general I prefer a locking knife--it's just safer in my mind--however, I find the simplicity of just opening, using, and closing a slip joint, without any fussing, an uncomplicated pleasure. There is a zen-like joy to be found in the slip joint.

Nicely said Jack...  :iagree:

My Trapper (and other knives) are used on plants and fruits, mostly. The acids make the carbon blade turn blueish.

Vintage Fuzz Day 19

Been very busy today doing fuzzy stuff, no time to cook, so grabbed some sushi and noodles on the way home...

Mrs Fuzzy was pretty chuffed - it's her favourite food.  :2tu:
