Cool entry, Sos. I bet that system is a real gem.  :tu:

(sorry, couldn't resist, but it does look excellent.)
Thanks.  I picked it up several years ago at a state fair.  It does work nice, especially for those of us who stink at sharpening free hand.

Made an opening in the Goodies box with the Sharp 260 today. I think the blade needs a little touch up, though it is usable. :ahhh

Goodies are great, although I’m strange and prefer the taste of the plain over the flavored.

Day 22

Used the Sodbuster Jr to opening up a box and other mail.

One item was a Utica Trapper thanks to Barry

In recognition of my oldest brother’s birthday, I took a picture of the new Trapper with a piece of pottery my brother made and gave me for Christmas last year.

Some many ICC :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

ICC #4

I use this double sided (medium and fine) Buck diamond sharpening card  it is roughly 1 inch by 4 inch and about as think as a credit card :salute: I carry this with me in my phone cases other pocket always  I hold it with my left hand and freehand sharpen, back and forth an equal number of times for each side or just back and forth. I also use the debur trick of passing the blade lightly on a piece of wood right before the final sharpen :tu: Here is this Old Timer that I made a few passes on over the fine side of the diamonds to tune it back up just a bit and then cut this receipt paper

Hope this qualifies me

I also have more sharpening gadgets and stones than you can shake a stick at but this card gets the most use because it is always with me

We have a sharpening gear thread around here somewhere  I need to find a link :D

:like:  Need to get one of those myself. The cheap set of diamond stones I picked up at our local Harbor Freight is low quality, and the green (1200?) DMT pocket sharpener I bought is way too fine for all but decently sharp edges just needing a touch up.

The DMT ones are great and if you have the other 2 grits to go with the green one you can sharpen nearly anything :tu:

This challenge is just riddled with beautiful photos, cool knives, good uses, and pics that make me want to eat myself to death. :D

Day 22:

Busted out a little gem of a knife. Nothing about it screams quality, but it just works well. Paired with the Crunch(has no plain blade), I like it.

Nice one! I recently got into Japanese knives; mostly the cheap stuff from the '70s and '80s, and my list just keeps on growing. I found one from the '80s the other day called the Precise Mountain Shadows; jimping on blade and lock release; G-10 handles, and I'm guessing AUS-8 steel.   They are rarely high dollar knives; but are made perfect. I do know that Sharp is one of the few Colonials made in the USA they sold under their name. I have a Japan-made money clip from them. Hard to believe Sharp, despite being made by one of the most well-respected cutlers in Japan, was a Kmart house brand.

Day 22. A bit of real use today. Used the blade during my walk in the back field to cut some brush; then to cut some paracord to make a flashlight fob.

Agree, the 3 stone DMT system works nice even on fairly dull knives.  My DMT came with the coarse (blue) and fine (red), then I added the green later.

ICC #5: Twenty Questions

Thank you very much David for the generous Giveaway.
And Jack for setting up this very enjoyable and fun challenge which found me stumbling into yet another rabbit hole...

Ok, so here it goes... even if my guess is wrong I do like this a lot so want to give it a try anyways.
Let me start with a quote out of a well known novel:

"All the stores was along one street. They had white domestic awnings in front, and the country-people hitched their horses to the awning-posts. There was empty dry-goods boxes under the awnings, and loafers roosting on them all day long, whittling them with their Barlow knives; and chawing tobacco, and gaping and yawning and stretching - a mighty ornery lot."

My guess: Huckleberry Finn (and a Barlow)

... because he’d whittle a tree branch, attach some line, dig up a worm, and catch some dinner!
