Day 27 - well the itch has been starting to require itching...

Went on search for a Sod Buster, never got to the shop I knew with one, instead took step into a used shop and found, not one but two other models on my search list (way down),
Plus a older style Buck 110 sheath, with some Leather nicks in the top (maybe mice gnaw).

AWL while my Buck Stockman rode in front pocket

Sadly after 27 days The Grohmann and me have never really connected, it's an awesome knife with Zero personality, is the only way I can describe it.

On the other hand I've owned the Trapper for all of three hours and can't put it down, I even made it my profile picture  :tu:

What's the handle material of the Case Trapper?
G10, the tang stamp on the spay blade is 10254 SS.

From my research a 10 indicates that G10 is used for the scales. 254 is the knife style (Trapper)

Sometimes that's the way it goes.

My Case trapper, the Yellow one above, came with a so-so edge.  I was a bit disappointed. However, some work with a fixed-angle sharpener put a wickedly nice edge on it and I've been thrilled with it ever since. It has, as you point out, some real character.  :tu:

I do have a few little corrosion spots on it--I think from carrying it in a pocket on an hot and sweaty day. I'd recommend a pocket slip or caddy during sweaty weather. And maybe keep a little oil on the blade.    :tu:

oh, excellent Avatar pic, too!  :tu:

ICC #4 - I have found it very difficult to keep up with the volume of contributions, and found I missed the ICC s available, accept the fire one in which I hope to complete.

Yet, if I understand correctly, 4 is for your sharpening tools.

If so, mine involve a Work Sharp K & T Sharpener, using either the red and/or purple belts, the correct angle guide depending on the knife, and then a fine wet stone for touch ups.

Here is the setting and test sheet after a quick touch up of my new (to me) Case trapper, before it enters the rotation.

Month almost over. It's been all fun and games here but a major upheaval in my personal life. I gave in my resignation for work on Wednesday. It's been nice in a way to have something silly and unimportant like this (relatively!) to take my mind off the big things and all the stress.

Oh, sorry, you had to resign!

Having done that a couple times myself, I've always felt 1) sorry that I felt the need to resign, and 2) a bit liberated that I took control of my life and didn't stay in a bad spot. As the say in the military, if you are drawing fire, move!

Best of luck with your new life changes!   :tu:

Wrapping up ICC #4, now.  Thanks for awl the participation in the Sharpening Challenge, ICC#4!  I enjoyed seeing people's sharpening techniques and got a few ideas along the way. I hope it was a good challenge for you guys.  :tu:

For the drawing, I randomized the list using Random.org and assigned each person the number of a card (sure I could have used Random.org to draw a winner, but since we had 13 entries, cards seemed like more fun):

Ace:       Poncho65
Deuce:   SteveC
3:           LoopCutter
4:           Sos24
5:           Wspeed
6:           RapidRay
7:           Antti Lammi
8:           McStitchy
9:           pomsbz
10:         Borg
Knave:   Fuzzbucket
Queen:  Alan K.
King:     RF52

Will draw a winner in a few minutes.......
