Well it finally happened to the old boy

After 16 years of loyal service, the spring on my Classic SD finally gave in. It was my first genuine SAK and it shall live on! So where do you upstanding Knights of the Realm purchase replacement parts in the UK for a decent price and shipping?

Unfortunately the Victorinox store in London Is closed, but that’s where I’ve taken my Vics in for warranty repair which is free - in my experience they don’t charge, and they come back with new scales and scale tools. When it comes to spare parts like a spring, it depends - if it’s a back spring, then I cannibalise another knife, but if it’s a scissors spring then I get spares from Vic/retailers in Germany/amazon/eBay.  If it is just a scissors spring PM me and I’ll send you one for free. :tu:

Burton McCall in Leicester manages Victorinox's UK servicing and repairs. customer.services@burton-mccall.com

This is bona fide, Victorinox's UK site refers servicing queries to Burton McCall.

I had a Victorinox Angler replaced FoC at the Victorinox store in Bond Street.

I had an Alox 1981 WK Soldier with a broken small screw driver on the tip of the can opener. It went to Burton McCall and then on to the factory in Switzerland. The tool wasn't replaced, but the cutler refashioned a small screwdriver and did a pretty decent job that I'm very happy with. It was a chargeable job, but cost less that £10 including postage from Burton McCall to Switzerland and then back to me.

Interesting, SAKTaschenmesser, didn’t know that as mine went to Switzerland and took a couple of months. As it was just the scissors spring, I’ve sent one to GearedForwards, so hopefully he’ll have his ClassicSD up and running again soon! :cheers:

They really do become old friends.  I carried a Huntsman exclusively for 32 years and know it with my eyes closed.  It's earned its retirement, but I still take it on journeys from time to time.

That’s useful info thank you. I am new to this forum but have just finished a refurb on my 30 year old Champ. New blade, new scissor spring, keyring, scales, mini- screwdriver and added a pin. I brought a cheap donor knife to replace the blade in this one so consequently have 99% of a Spartan in bits to rebuild now as a second project!
