Dragging this thread kicking and screaming back on topic for a second.  My new Wetterlings arrived today.  The fit and finish are OK but not up to the same standard as Gransfors Bruks, but at a third of the price maybe that's no surprise.  I ended up getting an even smaller axe than Micky and I have to say it is very dinky.  I was also pleasantly surprised to find it comes with a leather cover.  Here are a couple of shots:

Is yours smaller than Mike's?  Maybe its just the angles but they look the same size to me.

He's not going to be happy about your cover being leather when his was rubber  :ahhh ;)

Yeh it's a bit smaller, mostly the head size I think.  Using a alox SAK for scale (as is now standard  :) ).

That helps  :tu:

The 93mm alox shall from now on be the measurement standard for photos when unable to obtain one Benner :P

That actually does not look that dinky. plus I really like the smaller axes. They handle like a dream.

How was the edge? do you need to reprofile it?

I'm no axe expert but I did touch up the edge on it.  I didn't change the angle on it, but it wasn't terribly sharp.  I've never been of the school of thought that an axe should be blunt.  This isn't as small as the Gransfor Bruk mini axe (don't have one but I have handled one) but it is noticeably lighter than most hatchets at only 1lb 1 1/2oz or 495gm.  It hefts very lightly and I'm looking forward to swinging it in earnest.
