Tactical or traditional?

When it comes to fixed blades or folders, what style are you generally attracted to?  I go through phases, ATM I am in a tactical phase, but give it a couple of days and that can all change.  :D

So what about you guys?  Tactical, traditional or a bit of both?

I am a tactical kind of guy. It may have to do with my line of work, though..

I started out more tactical... Charge, Delica, etc. For the last while I've been leaning more traditional, though I don't have a whole lot of "just" knives in either style.

I have a soft spot in my heart for traditional type knives but I don't like the lump they leave in my pocket. I currently like tactical/one hand openers due to the ease of carry and the ability to open them quicker than thier traditional counterparts.

SLIPPIES ALL THE WAY~

I've started to always carry a congress or peanut. They're pocket friendly and carry more than enough blade styles for any kind of cutting you'd ever neeed. And it's like pocket bling! :D

But I carry a tactical looking folder when I'm feeling paranoid, which is 70% of the time. ::)

Got those frog legs.

Well I started out with Sak's then convinced myself that tacticool's must be better so went through a phase of buying dozen's of them ::)

Fortunatly I got married/divorced so almost all of the tac-crap has gone and been replaced with more practical traditional designs :)

Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

That's a tough one. I would say tactical because that is what I carry most of the time. I do have a soft spot for traditional knives though. I started collecting Case and Buck knives and I still have quite a few of them. I just picked up a nice Tony Bose/Case knife that I want to keep to whittle with when I'm an old man. I've always imagined I'd be sitting in a rocking chair whittling with my Case knife when my time was up.  :D

Well what's your understanding of tactical and traditional?

I don't really know where to draw the line to be honest.

Tactical to me usually means a black, angry looking, fast folder.  For example a Cold Steel Voyager.

Traditional is more like an older styled knife maybe with a wood or bone handle.  For example, some sort of Case slippy.

Overall, Tactical's are cool and traditionals look old.  :D

I think I am more traditional when it comes to fixed blades, but more tactical when it comes to folders.  Unless you count SAKs, I'm not a real big fan of traditional type fixed blades.  I have one Case knife and I'm not impressed.

I`m mostly a tactical type but I still carry a varity of Alox SAKs. Still have alot of slip joint folders from the past but seldom carry any of them any more. But to be honest I just like knives.

What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

In my personal view:

I define Tactical blades used for; self defense/military, mall-ninja. Made/style for fighting/combat, and looks (black/camo).
A police officer or soldier uses this for defense/offense; a mall-ninja thinks he is going to use it for that.

A traditional blade is typically for EDC.

Those tend to be my thoughts as well.

So what do you tend to go for?

ohh traditional man here! while a tactical blade can be used for EDC, it's not really best suited for it; i.e. clip points (which can break easier), black and camo coloring make it hard to find when dropped or lost, guards that get in the way of cutting/slicing. They do look nice!

I'm definately tactical, which I consider to be anything with a 3" or longer blade.  Black handles, perferably zytel or G10 and folding style.   Fixed blades just take up too much room.
