Are these carabiners fake

Just seen these on eBay and they seem rather cheap and they are in Hong Kong. Are they fake ?

Why would a seller in China (HK) be selling a LM carabiner individually that usually comes with a another tool

They must be , I looked on the UK LM site and they are £9.95

It could be a case of, the originals are made in China at the same factory that these came from :shrug:  If so then they may be fine but I'd rather not chance it maybe :think: :salute:

I have both, the one that came with the LM multi-tool and the cheap/fake one from China, purchased on eBay. If you compare them side by side you will see the LEATHERMAN and the NOT FOR CLIMBING lettering style/font face is different and also the contour of the small bottle and the wire clip attachment, they look very similar but not exactly the same. I really don't see the point of paying all that money for the so called "original" if for the same price you can purchase few of the cheap ones, they're serves the same purpose and I'm sure the LM carabiner is also made in China  :popcorn:

These came today
They are the same thickness and weight

As said above the lettering is a little different,
The wire gate feels smoother on the old one and a 1/4 inch driver fits well in both

Check the contour of the engraved small bottle and you will see it's also different. Not big issues, just minor cosmetic details as long as they serve the same purpose at a lower price.
