The Leap would pair nicely with a traditional.   :like:

It really is.  I am enjoying the Leap more than my Free P4, and have ordered a 2nd Leap in green.  That's not to say that the Leap is "better" than the P4 - I just find it "funner".  The Leap rocks 80% of the utility of the P4 at 57% of the weight and 28% of the cost.

60% of the time the Leap works all the time.

 :D

But seriously, one of the things I love about the Leap is that it bridges between the keychain Tools and the full size tools.

I've found a use for the entire toolset, and the removable system provides an opportunity for a lot of customization without voiding the warranty. I just really wish Leatherman could make a decent scissor. Here is hoping the 91mm Vic I just ordered can fit.

The actual utility of the Leap and P4 are far closer than one might first think.

I could feel the force of MTO enabling is strong with this one...

Your statement of "The Leap rocks 80% of the utility of the P4 at 57% of the weight and 28% of the cost." is going to hurt P4, and breath new life into Leap sales :D

I've been rocking the spirit as my EDC the last few days. one of the things I love is that the Leap as a bunch of tools that you don't get on the Spirit or other full size MTs. Its a very very interesting set of tools. Literally all it really needs is a decent set of scissors (common problem to all Leathermans).

Sorry bad typing... The Leap has a set of tools that you don't get on most full sided plier based multi tools (the Small 2D Philips, and tweezers).

I only have to scroll back up this page to find an identical looking Philips.
So the very very interesting set of tools is tweezers.

How well do they work?

I found the tweezers on the micra to be pretty good.
Others though not so much.

Yes, same tool on Micra and squirt but nothing with similar plier size has both the 2d Philips and tweezers. The short length of the tools makes it much more usable than I would have thought. Same reason why the Micra ones works so well.

Well. This thread is for all of us enamoured of the leap. So excuse us if we find it better than anything else in the world  :dunno:

Also Happy Gilmore. I did encounter myself with the scissors issue. There were a couple of things that just wedged themselves in between the blades. So I will be watching your progress with the SAK scissors.

So...strangely...I got a 91mm Vic scissor and found I was still having that issue. There was one other scissor I remembered was incredible at cutting. It came from one of those off brand tools, Link Here:

https://www.amazon.com/DPNAO-Multitool-Adjustable-Multifunctional-Screwdriver/dp/B07P9WVT5N/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=DPNAO&qid=1559165794&s=gateway&sr=8-8

Turns out it also has the exact same pivot size...works independend of the lock mechanism and even has the same curve as the multi-tool when stored..all I had to do is minor adjustments of the frame and scissor and it worked perfectly. Not only that but I can still open it one handed.

But that tool costs more than a leap!

What would you need to do to make it lock?

I thought about using the scissors as awl but I'm afraid it would make them worse.

I found that tool (I think), marginally cheaper.

Of course that waiting time is long.

Still I think at that price I can put up with the mediocre scissors.

This Challenge is only open to elite MT operators.  Applicants will be vetted by the High Tribunal, and due consideration will be given to the applicant's experience, contributions to MT acceptance in modern culture, moral character and physical appearance.

These requirements will be waived for anyone who owns a Leap.
