I'd have to have at least one, and, if I liked it I'd probably want a second one.

How reasonable are we talking about? The ones that are selling out there are pricey due to the rarity. If it is back in production, I wouldn't pay more for it than a ST300. To be very honest.

Ok, sobered up...

I'd still not buy it.
Simply because it would no longer be rare and desirable and I don't have an actual use for one.

So from a user's point of view I can understand people would like to see it making a comeback.
From a collector's point of view, that would be a nightmare.

But it would no longer be a rare tool...

And that is part of the fun if you do end up getting one, right?

True for some indeed.

The prices for some tools(ones with less historical significance or uniqueness) make them not very enjoyable sometimes. To me anyway.
But, that said, I know a lot of collectors are very much into the "hunt."
While the hunt is somewhat enjoyable for me, the parts where I examine, clean, fiddle with, and sort in the collection are what brings me joy. :)

Same to me, and I could never dish out $500 for a Hybrid.

That said, some people do, or the prices would come down again.
Question is... who?

Why the Hybrid?
Why not the Vista or the Genus?

I've actually got all three versions (2 of the genus)
Out of the 3 I'd much prefer the Genus.

As for reinstating... If I had a choice I'd prefer an all stainless version (beefed up surge).
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

:dunno:
I haven't made any correlations between absurd sold prices on eBay and MT.o members collections yet, so the collection market is hard to gauge. Could it be that people who actually use them are so frantic, to acquire backups, that they pay several hundred dollars for one? Could it be that there are groups of serious collectors out there that don't come to MT.o? Maybe some collectors don't want to advertise that they paid big bucks, for whatever reasons?
I have a ceiling price for even the most difficult to find collection tools. It is $150. Though, I have only paid $150 for a tool once. Average price I pay is about 50%-70% of the going value.  :salute:

I should note that my grail tools are exempt from the ceiling, but are still subject to reasonable judgement on cost.

But this was always going to be the case surely.
New generation of collectors emerge along with those who want the tool regardless of the cost. Yes $500 is a lot - I wouldn't want to pay that, however if it was torturing me not owning a mint example in the box and I already had the other two versions that I'd scored at a good price - I'd consider it. Yes it would hurt, but the pain of missing out and then waiting for another to appear is terrible - believe me I know I've been there too!

No intention of ever going back either, Geez

I would rather go for the Vista.
That been said I would not buy one if it was more than 50€.

Now what do I vote for?

Ok, I am a user, about the only thing I collect is battle scars from trying to prune the roses. I am not necessarily proposing a reintroduction of the hybrid, just something simular. But not the Genus, I have several sets of Felcos. I want the convenience of foldability that the Hybrid, Vista package offers.

I would, for sure, hoping that is that it is a folding tool and that the shears are excellent, on par with anything from Corona, Fiskars, or Felco. There's just not a whole lot to choose from in this sector, and most are mediocre bargain bin tools at best. The Bear and Sons models are OK, but could use improvement and more tools.  Hopefully, they can keep the price around $50.

The ones that I have seen on eBay are going for high prices. It doesn’t mean they are selling though. I keep seeing the same ones. A lot of eBay sellers are in dreamland with their prices.

Those who voted no, mind explaining why?
(I voted for heckydern etc... because I have no use for one, but I would like it to be an option)

Again, I have no use for one, but a good shears multitool sounds like a good thing to have on the market for a reasonable price point, for the gardeners like Butch among us. And Butch has said that it doesn't have to be THE Hybrid, just something similar.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!
