:dunno:
I haven't made any correlations between absurd sold prices on eBay and MT.o members collections yet, so the collection market is hard to gauge. Could it be that people who actually use them are so frantic, to acquire backups, that they pay several hundred dollars for one? Could it be that there are groups of serious collectors out there that don't come to MT.o? Maybe some collectors don't want to advertise that they paid big bucks, for whatever reasons?
I have a ceiling price for even the most difficult to find collection tools. It is $150. Though, I have only paid $150 for a tool once. Average price I pay is about 50%-70% of the going value.  :salute:

I should note that my grail tools are exempt from the ceiling, but are still subject to reasonable judgement on cost.

I use the same approach when I buy stuff for my collection, but sadly enough $150 won't get you much over here ... My limit is 200€ ($225), anything more and I start to feel uncomfortable about it.

Guess our spending limit on a single tool is about the same, let's take the Free P4 for example, at $140 it is almost at your limit.  Over here that same Free P4 costs 199,95€ ($225), which is just under my limit  ;).

I just realized that the Free P4 is the most expensive tool I've ever bought ... :ahhh

My MUT was my most expensive until now, at 192€ ($216), and I remember that one took a long time before I decided to buy it, while on the Free P4 all it took was to see it was available at a Belgian store and it would be delivered the next day ...

It's getting worse

Indeed, unfortunately, some geographical locations necessitate a higher spending limit.

Don't blame you on the P4 impulse buy, because it does look a whole lot prettier than the MUT. IMO of course.  :D

Pontificating particularly pious positions pertaining to polymorphic paraphernalia. G-Man.

Certainly look tough enough. Why do they command such a high used price, is it just collectors filling the gaps ?

They have been retired for several years and the poeple selling them have inflated the prices of them to a very high amount for that reason :salute:
