Sounds like the same system hitting Alberta and BC, over a meter fell in places  :ahhh

I think so. There are reports of a meter or more up in the mountains.

Still snowing here......

Of course they did. I never understood the science behind it, but apparently it is quite possible (and common) for one to grow up healthy and strong despite eating nothing but mac and cheese and hot dogs for the first 10 years of one's life.

I once ate gum off the sidewalk when I was 2 or 3. A hot dog and a coke sounds much better.

   That's movie material!

Day 29
I've established in my mind that the CRKT Hunt'n Fisch is a fantastic EDC knife, although, it's intended purpose is for skinning small game. I wondered, however if it could do more.  For example, could it be relied on as a survival knife? I decided to find out by using it to open a coconut.  First I cut around the top and then cut the husk into sections and used the Hunt'n Fisch for a bit of prying to get the husk away from the nut.  Once exposed I used the Hunt'n Fisch to bore into one of the eye holes and I drank the coconut water.  Ahh, refreshing. Then I bashed the nut with a rock to break it open and used the knife again to pry out my reward, the delicious coconut meat. This knife passed the test and it is still sharp, too!

Great use!

Day: 29

We got about 4", maybe a bit more, of snow. Still some light snow coming down. Spent the day shoveling, making cornbread, and working on an axe handle. No uses for this knife, made by a local maker, so far.....

(Image removed from quote.)

Interesting looking knife, almost like a pairing knife.  And look at that snow!

I have to admit though I'm a sucker for a Hotdog cart Hotdog and a bottle of Coke on the sidewalk
When the family was going from one base to the next, he would always take two weeks and we would go to NYC, as soon as he saw a hot dog vendor at the coroner he would stop and get one! I prefer the pizza myself

Day 30

Becker Kephart BK62

This challenge went by much quicker than I thought, and am happy to have this chance to participate it with everyone.

I posted different knives thru out the challenge, but found myself can't help but keep going back to this new all time favorite of mine.  The perfect balance has made this large-mid size knife very easy to use and light in the hand; the simple yet proven design is, as someone puts it, "everything you need, and nothing you don't".  This modern version has screw and bolts which make it easy to clean and maintain, and tapering at tang and top of spine are all accurately resembling the original knife.

The only difference is the original has 'double convex', where 2/3 is convex down to the edge, and 1/3 convex up to spine to save weight and reduce drag during use.  But as Becker puts it, it's not possible to make with modern machinery(or possibly to costly to mass produce).  If someone comes out with a custom to resemble that, while keeping all the perfect balance and features, that'd be something to see/use.

Anyway, can't say enough about how much I love this knife, and just went ahead put on a forced patina to personalize it for myself.  I'm already planning to order a new one for keep sake...

Great Challenge everyone!  I marvel at the variety of fixed blades out there, and the collective uses by everyone.  Thanks for a great time, and  to Nix for another great 30 days!

Rotating shifts are the worst. You never seem to get enough sleep. At least you have a warm meal and a nice knife to make it a little better.  Stay safe.

Only place I know you can get some is Norway, so probably exotic for some parts of the world and annoying when living in Sweden
It's just a blade from a cheap mora style knife I took apart the handle of, I want the practice for handle making so a cheap blade and just plain birch wood for the handle :tu:
I'll post a pic when it's finished, but probably wont make a sheath for it.
