On a hot, late summer afternoon, nothing beats a good Honeycrisp apple from the mountains of NC.

Sweet tooth, I mean use! :D :like:

Day 3

Ahti Juhla Finnish Puukko next to my morning read, for smaller knife, I quite like the rat tape construction which commonly found in Puukko, together with the handle, it usually result in a more balanced knife.  For outdoor or wood use, I almost always prefer a true scandi grind over convex or scandivex.  I think it is actually harder to make a true scandi grind, but easier for user to maintain it.

Another nice Puuko. These are starting to get my attention!  :like:

I have been eyeing Andy Roy's knives whenever I go knife shopping, and hear nothing but good review about his work.  This is an interesting knife shape, how thick is the actual blade stock?

I don't know whether you own the Spyderco Sharpmaker(I sworn by that), but If the stock is relatively thin(like 1/8 or less), maybe just put on a utility grind at 15 deg each side via the Sharpmaker?

Andy makes great knives, I'll try to post a couple of others during the challenge.  :tu:

The blade stock on this BLJ is a stout 3/16". I do own a Sharpmaker, but don't use it much because I prefer to freehand. Freehand sharpening does have some drawbacks (with my limited skills), but I just like to sharpen that way. No worries in this case--the BLJ takes a great edge, I just have to work at it a bit more.

I should probably just re-profile the edge on a coarse diamond stone and then progress from there. But......it's sharp now, so I'll have to wait until it dulls a bit.  :D

Wow, 3/16 is indeed stout for a smaller knife :o , but I guess small chopper is "in" right now, so this must be a fun multi-use tool to say the least.  :D

Freehand is something I like to progress to do eventually, still love the consistency and great result I get from the sharpmaker, it is almost like a match made in heaven for any SAK or Spyderco enthusiast.

I am in Orlando myself...you in the Miami-Dade area?
I'm in Broward County, west of Ft, Lauderdale Int. Airport. As of 1 AM the storm is down to a cat 3 and I don't think it is going to be much of an issue for me at this point, but you need to pay attention up the coast and inland because it will eventually make its way north.

Day 2
Used my Explorer Tanto to open my Zippo for fueling

Great pictures and enjoy learning about  the Mora patterns.

@ Allen K. and Ray - stay safe and prepared.  Can not imagine a storm that storm passing over or near for that duration.

day 3 with 3 bananas and that Mora Mystery

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Another shot of my Explorer Tanto. It's a great little knife. Very handy. The sheath's not too good though. It's from an era when sheaths were made to wear straight up so the knife pokes me in the ribs when it's on my belt. I'd prefer to give it a little cant or wear it lower but it has a fixed belt / boot clip.
